Prevention is a fundamental element in avoiding situations of danger at sea,..., those who approach the nautical of recreation must take a series of simple precautions that can prevent us from situations that we do not want in an environment that can become dangerous. For all and especially for those who practice nautical tourism, the state-owned company Salvamento Marítimo has made available excellent minigies, which are essential for those who use the sea as a space for leisure and sport.

KITESURF

KITESURF

  • Check the weather predictions and distrust the earth wind.
  • Do not practice it if there is a possibility of storms with an electric device
  • Learn the technique in a specialized center and do not go to sea until you check that you control the comet perfectly.
  • In summer it is difficult to find beaches without swimwear. Practice in a clear area of people, whether bathing or walking, and check that there is no one at all. It can cause damage to the comet.
  • Always sail at the edge of docks, cliffs, spikes or boats, so that they are not dragged to them.
  • Do not navigate near high-voltage tenths or airports.
  • Use a helmet to protect your head and proper clothes against the cold.
  • Check the security release system in the control bar.
  • Never hold the kitesurf lines with your hands.
  • The kitesurf tables have little floating. Always wear the life jacket.
  • In case of emergency, stay next to the table and comet, as it will be more easily located.
  • Use a floating and impact vest.

WINDSURF

WindSurf

  • Watch the weather. The state of the wind and the sea can change abruptly. Take special care when blowing ground wind, as it can get too far off the coast.
  • Check the tides and report the sea currents.
  • Respect the prohibited areas for windsurfing and the distances to the shore. Use the beamed channels (if any) to get to the sea and to return to the ground, sailing slowly.
  • Outside the barbed channel, stay away from those possible bathers who swim outside the area for the bathroom. If there are no channels or balized areas, take precautions.
  • Stay away from divers and underwater fishermen. It's not more than a mile off the coast.
  • Don't go to sea at sunset. If you have any mischief and the night falls, it will be more difficult to find you. Do not sail when there are less than two hours left for sunset.
  • Use cold protection (isothermal suits) and use striking colors in candle, iron and clothing. Use a live life jacket, take it permanently on. If you practice speed windsurfing, use protective helmet.
  • Take with you a kit with flashlight, chemical lights or flares and energy food.
  • Do not sail alone, do so in company and tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return so that you can give the alarm voice if your arrival is delayed.
  • In case of structural failure, break or accident, do not leave the board trying to win the coast by swimming. Go up to it and make signs up and down slowly the arms spread.
  • Use tables with a bow tow or trailer system.
  • In case of a windsurfer in distress from the ground, do not hesitate to call the emergency phone 112

SURF

Surf

The following recommendations are made to people who practice surfing:

  • Study the beach where you will surf and study carefully the operation of the waves: where they break, what dominant currents exist, if they can direct you to rock areas and why you can enter the waves more safely.
  • Check tidal times, weather and submerged obstacles.
  • It is not convenient to practice surfing alone.
  • On many beaches the bathing areas are not beamed. In that case, stay away from the bathers and other surfers. In these places, caution must be exercised and all risks avoided.
  • Use cold protection (isothermal suits). They should be of striking colors for better location.
  • Do not leave the board loose in the water as it can be dangerous for other surfers.
  • Check the line that binds your ankle to the table and apply non-slip before each output.

If the waves exceed one meter high, use a helmet to protect yourself from the blows of the board and the cuts of the keel.

  • Do not move away from the coast more than necessary and if you do, use a support boat.
  • Respect the "rules" of surfing over priorities, warning other surfers, keeping the preference of those who are most attached to foam.

It is not convenient to practice this sport at sunset, as if you fall for the night and have a problem it will be difficult to get help.

  • In case of an accident, never leave the table. Don't overestimate your strength. From the table, make signals by slowly increasing and lowering your arms.
  • Tell family or friends where you are going to surf and the estimated time of your return. In the event of a long delay, a more effective search may be organized.
  • It is very important for the surfer to monitor the weather and to know the forecasts for the area. The wind and the sea can change sharply on the coast.

Be very careful with the wind from land that can take you away from the beach.

Esquí Náutico

  • Before the skis are placed, remember that it will move at high speed and that falls can be painful.
  • It uses as a trailer a boat designed and trained for this activity. It must have two crew members, one to the controls, correctly titled, and the other to the slope of their developments.
  • Do not ski in unauthorized places (ports, access channels, barbed areas), close to swimwear, between boatboats or by navigation.
  • Stay away, at least 200 metres from a beach and 50 metres from the rest of the coast.
  • Always wear the life jacket.

HOW TO TAKE REMOLQUE

Cómo tomar remolque

  • At a time when you are not going to be able to solve the failure by your own means, ask for assistance. Do not delay the call because drift to the coast or a worsening time can complicate the operation.
  • As the rescue ship arrives, keep listening to the VHF channel that Salvamento Marítimo has indicated. If your boat dries to the coast have the plumbing equipment prepared.
  • To sign the trailer go to the bow with vest, non-slip shoes, gloves and, if at night, a flashlight.
  • As a general rule, the trailer is provided by the rescue boat. Unless the weather conditions are very favourable, they will not have the trailer line directly, but will first launch a sisga. The sisga is nested by the trailer line.
  • The trailer end usually ends in a fork known as a rooster foot, which allows the end to be tied to each amura, sharing the effort.
  • If you have a balcony, the trailer must go below it, otherwise when you start throwing the tug, the balcony can be seriously damaged.
  • Once you have signed the trailer, go back to the stern and put the rudder on the track. Throughout the trailer operation follow the instructions given by the rescue boat pattern.
  • In the vicinity of the port the rescue boat will shorten the trailer and close to your boat to take you to the docking.
  • Remember: the vast majority of trailers would be avoided with adequate engine maintenance. Before going out to sea, calculate what fuel you will need for the journey. Also check the levels of oil and cooling water. Anomal fleas and noises may be a symptom of failure. Taking care of the engine is investing in security!

REVIEW OF WOMEN'S HUMAN SITUATION

Evitar situaciones de hombre al agua

  • Pay special attention to children and inexperienced sailors. Marked people are a risk in themselves, as they have a very low capacity to maintain balance, and need to be monitored, especially at the time they are going to vomit.
  • The falls to the sea are limited to the maximum with the use of harness and life lines. When making them fixed to the hull, it should be borne in mind that the holding point can withstand the force that will exercise the weight of the person dragged by the water.
  • One of the most recurrent causes of falls is the use of inadequate footwear, likely to slip. Barefoot going in wet areas where the cover does not have non-slip material facilitates the slips. Special care must be taken not to step on the glazed covers of the hatches, since when they are wet it is very easy to slip on them.
  • The ends and other loose objects on deck are an invitation to stumble, hence the need for the deck to always go well. Mobile elements, such as botavars, can be precipitated on a person without the person having time to react.
  • The accused balance sheets that generate great scurries encourage the falls, so if possible you should look for a course that avoids them, especially if there are people walking on deck.
  • One of the prone moments to fall into the water occurs when a trailer with a bad sea is to be received. The ship will be crossed to the waves, with pronounced balances, then only one expert navigator must go forward.
  • Crewmen with symptoms of drunkenness or under the effects of drugs have the added risk of unwise behaviour, so they should not be assigned any other function than to remain still in the bathtub or in another safe place.
  • The crew member who will realize his physiological needs outside the border must be aware that his balance is seriously compromised.
  • Remember: the use of the vest can make the difference between life and death. If a person falls into the water with his vest on, his chances of keeping on the surface, and therefore of being seen by his companions are infinitely higher than if he does not wear it. Think that if it is at night, or is sailed in reduced visibility, the vests have a whistle and light. If the person is unconscious, the vest will help him to turn his airways over the water and keep him afloat.
