NAVANTIA today held the ceremony to deliver to the Ibaizábal Group of the ship "Monte Urbasa," the second of the four Suezmax tankers contracted in 2015.

The "Monte Urbasa" will be incorporated into the CEPSA fleet under the form of time charter, within the program of renewal of its fleet, as already did last March the "Monte Udala," the first oil tanker in the series. This ship has already sailed 20,000 miles and made several trips of supply of crude from different origins to the refineries of CEPSA, successfully.

The construction of each ship is accounting for more than 725,000 hours of work, which is translated into employment to an average of more than 2,000 people, between direct and indirect. This program is allowing the shipyard to reach one of its highest occupation peaks in recent years, as almost 3,000 people are entering their facilities daily.

In addition to the oil tankers' program, in the shipyards of the Bay of Cadiz the electric substation contracted by Iberdrola for the East Anglia wind park in Puerto Real and the fifth BAM Maritime Action Ship will be delivered in San Fernando at the end of the month. In addition to this is the strong activity of the Reparations and Systems business in the Cadiz shipyards and the program of maintenance of the destroyers for the US Navy in Rota, and the recent signing of the contract with Arabia for the construction of five corbettes.

The manufacture of the "Monte Urbasa" has been done in a record time, as it was started in the dam on October 16. Over 20,000 tons of steel have been assembled with all the equipment of the ship in these nine months, and the sea tests have been successfully carried out to celebrate the delivery ceremony today. The Puerto Real dam, one of the largest in Europe, is being used intensively for this. So, when the float of Mount Urbasa occurred, there were already blocks of the third oil tanker on the dam. It should be noted that in the last year there have been 400 assemblies in the portic crane, which is equivalent to an average of two newspapers.
