A great performance by the Spanish athletes of 420 and 470 in the European Youth Championship of these classes that has been held in Sesimbra, Portugal, and in which the national teams have achieved three medals. Martin Wizner and Pedro Ameneiro, from the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, have today stood up with the title of European champions of class 420. The Vigo duo, which at the beginning of the year was made with gold in the world's sub 17 of the same kind, has not given its rivals any choice at any time and has led the classification firmly.
The absolute podium of the class has had a clear Spanish accent as, along with Wizner and Ameneiro, the baleares Pablo Ruiz and Miguel Martinez- Fortun del Náutico de Palma have been raised to the third drawer of the podium. The second square has been for the French Enzo Balanger and Gaultier Tallieu.
Spain has also managed to get on the podium in the sub-17 category of class 420 with the subchampionship achieved by Jacobo Garcia and Antoni Ripoll (RCN Sanxenxo) who have managed to raid the medals in the last day of the championship.
In the female category, the best national team has been that of Julia Miñana and Silvia Sebastià (CN Jávea), who have achieved sixth position. For their part, Giulietta Lang and Tess Provenzal (RCN Palma) have ended up at 15 of the 420 women, although they have not competed in the last two days for the physical problems of the patron.
It also stands out the 12th place achieved by Conrad Koitzer and Fernando Rodríguez (CN Arenal), and the 15th in the general of Nacho Dávila and Javier Mestre (CN El Balís) in 420 Open. They have also competed in this class Rubén Naranjo and Guillermo Castellano (RCN Gran Canaria), with a meritorious place 24 of the general.
In the sub-17 category, in addition to the García / Ripoll subchampionship, the team of Sebastián Riquelme and Miquel Pérez (CN El Balís) have finished at the 20 and the tandem formed by Marina Garau and Blanca Cabot (CM San Antonio de la Playa), have been the first in the general and third women.
