Rain of medals for Spain in the Europeans of Croatia and in the World Cup of Sort

The Spanish Pyragüismo this weekend adds five medals, four in the European Marathon and one in the Second Free Style World Cup
The Spanish pyragüismo closes this weekend by adding five medals, thanks to the four priests obtained in the European of Marathon (Croatia), with the gold of Tono Campos in C1 and that of Diego Romero and Oscar Graña in C2; and those of the bronze of Miguel Fernández Castañón and José Julián Becerro in K2 and Eva Barrios and Amaia Osaba in K2, along with the third place obtained in the II World Cup of Free Style (Sort, Lleida) by Catalan Quim Fontané.
The Spanish selection of pyragüismo has collected... medals in the European Marathon Championship, disputed in the Croatian city of Metkovic, where the Gallegos Diego Romero and Oscar Graña have proclaimed themselves continental champions in C2;... and the couple formed by Eva Barrios and Amaia Osaba have achieved bronze in K2. In the test that closed the European the male K2 the Asturian Miguel Fernández Castañón and the Spanish-Leoness José Julián Becerro (1h.55m.16s) have put the gold brooch to the competition by achieving the bronze medal in a race in which from the line of departure they sought the podium. After a good start, they were already placed in the head in the first of the 8 turns to the circuit that totaled 29.80 kilometres. The leading group, initially composed of 9 vessels, including the other Spanish crew by the Asturians Miguel Llorens and Luis Pérez Amado, was losing strength until in the middle of the race it was reduced to three candidates: Fernández Castañón and Becerro, along with the French Edwin Lucas and Stephane Boulanguer and the Hungarians Adrian Boros and Laszlo Solti.
This trio of podium candidates were given relief, knowing that this collaboration guaranteed the medal to all of them, except for a perch in the race. They just had to decide the color of the metal. The Spaniards arrived third in the final esprint with the French, both ships with an impossible difference to cut to the Hungarian K2 continental champion. Llorens and Amado ended up in ninth place (2h.01m.02s). In C2 the palists of the Breogan have secured the victory after maintaining control of the race throughout the course, which ended first with a time of 1 hour, 55 minutes and 33 seconds.
The other Spanish ship in this test, tripulated by the Pontevedrés Tono Campos, who yesterday achieved gold in C1, and the Zamoran José Manuel Sánchez, finished fifth (1h.57m.19s) although also in the struggle for the medals for much of the tour. In K2 women the Spanish-Leoness Eva Barrios (Zamora) and the Amaia Osaba (Pamplona), with a time of 1 hour, 56 minutes and 2 seconds, have managed to get on the podium as third of Europe behind the Hungarian K2 who held a strong struggle between them. The Galician Tania Fernández and Tania Alvarez have finished fourth, with a time of 1 hour, 58 minutes and 31 seconds.
The current world champion, Quim Fontané, won the bronze medal last night at the II Free Style World Cup, held in the town of Sort (Lleida). The Catalan palist, who competed with his audience, obtained at the end of the three sleeves of the final a better score of 540 points, behind his two podium companions and also favorites, the Polish Tomas Czaplicki (840 points) and the French Sebastian Devred (805). The president of the Organizing Committee of the JJOO Paris 2014, the Olympic trampoon of piragüism in the slalon mode Tony Estanguet, has delivered the medals to Czaplicki, Devred and Fontané at the end of the spectacular night day. Sort will host the 2019 World Cup from July 2 to 7.
The four Spanish palists today participating in the 3rd World Cup 2018 in slalom, which has been concluded in the German city of Augsburg, have remained in semi-finals. In C1, the Catalan Nuria Vilarubla (Cadí) occupied square 13, with 2 seconds of penalization, and the Basque Klara Olazabal (Santiagarark) the 21, with a penalty of 54 seconds, while the Basque Telmo Olazabal (Santiagarrak) ended at position 28 and the Spanish-Leonese David Llorente (Eresma) in 38, with 50 seconds of punishment.
