The charter market in this period is also led by the Balearic Islands, which represent 27.36%, followed by Catalonia (24.5%) and the Valencia Community (16.68%).

The market for recreational craft has grown by 2.7% between January and June 2018, with 3,256 enrolment compared to 3,171 in the first half of 2017. Of the total number of ships registered, 1,049 (32.2%) are intended for nautical charter (rent), which falls in this period by -6,1%.

These are the data collected in the Report on the market for recreational craft (energy-June 2018), edited by ANEN on the basis of the data provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.

By length, the segment up to 6 meters enrol 2,226 vessels compared to the 2,213 vessels registered in the same period last year (+ 0.6%); between 6 and 8 meters in length, the enrolments grow by + 16.8%. These two segments occupy the largest share of the nautical market (89.7%).

The length between 8 and 12 meters fall in this period (-17.6%), the registration of ships between 12 and 16 meters grow by + 12.6% and the length of 16 meters is down by -6.8%.

By type of boat, water bikes grow by + 6.9%. The motor ships, the most demanded on the market, increase their registration by + 4% between January and June this year. Semi-rigid pneumatic vessels are also growing (1%). On the contrary, the folding pneumatic (-5.1%) and the candle (-10.6%) fall.

The rental market, with 1,049 registrations between January and June this year, has a negative result, falling by -6.17%. The only growing segments are the ranges between 6 and 8 meters, with registration for rental use growing by + 13%, and the ships between 12 and 16 meters for rent that increase their registration by + 8.2% in this period.

Baleares leads the nautical market (20.49%) in the first half of 2018 with a growth of + 20.83%. Catalonia is then located, with 20.29% of the market, and a drop in enrolment of -10.67%. Thirdly, Andalusia represents 17.63% of the nautical market and has a growth in enrolment of + 12.32%.
