In the 2017 campaign the Civil Guard carried out more than 300 controls in the Balearic Islands

The technicians of the armed institute, were very jealous in the control of the ships rented by illegal charter companies... to the extent that their inspection work resulted in about half a hundred ships in this irregular situation being immobilized
A total of 118 ships and water bikes were sanctioned by the Civil Guard in the Balearic Islands, throughout the campaign of 2017... in total the ships inspected exceeded three hundred controls.
Sources close to the authorities have confirmed that the Civil Guard will follow this line of action... among which it is concerned and much, there is the negligence by some owners or drivers of aquatic motorcycles... in the sense of using the motorcycles in a way that is not adjusted to the levels of safety with which they have to be managed, with the aim of preventing accidents on the Balearic beaches... these actions will extend to swamps, reservoirs or lakes.
On the other hand, the Civil Guard has reported that they will claim from the crew of the ships the certificates of navigability, the supporting documents of payment of the insurance premium in force and the qualification of pilot corresponding to the characteristics of the ship, to check that they are in order...
They will be inspected by many establishments and businesses dedicated to this activity in order to raise awareness of both the professionals and the sporadic users of this type of activities... which will be carried out by provincial maritime services and port and coastal patrols.
At the national level in the 2017 marketing year a total of 2201 inspections were carried out, of which 777 were carried out with a proposal of sanction. The provinces of Huelva, Málaga and Alicante were in which more controls of nautical bikes were recorded.
