The act of handing over the flag of combat to the frigate 'Cristóbal Colón' took place on the south dock of the port of onubense of Palos de la Frontera. The ceremony was chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Teodoro López Calderón, accompanied by the Admiral of the Fleet, Juan Rodriguez Garat, among other authorities.

After receiving the honors of ordinance, the admiral reviewed a Joint Company of Honors made up of Escuadra de Gastadores, a section of Marina del Tercio del Sur, another of the amphibious assault ship 'Castile' and one last of the strength of the frigate 'Cristóbal Colón'.

Following the ceremony of the Navy, the mayor of Palos de la Frontera, Carmelo Romero, an organization that has offered the National Teaching, after a brief address, gave the flag to the godmother who, in turn, and after the blessing of it by the vicar of the Navy, gave himself to the commander of the 'Cristobal Colón', captain of frigate Santiago Vila Barón.

At the end of his address, the commander of the ship accompanied by the defeat officer embarked on the ship for the lifting of the combat flag to the chords of the national anthem. After the event, the town hall of Palos offered a reception to the attendees.
