Four Spanish teams took part in the competition, including the male and female seniors and the female sub-21, who took advantage of this championship in preparation for the World Cup.

The Spanish selection of kayak polo faces the 2018 World Championship, to be held from 1 to 5 August in Welland (Canada), with good sensations after the results obtained last weekend, especially the silver medal achieved by the senior team at the last trophy of the ECE CUP, held in the Belgian city of Mechelen.

The senior men achieved the second position of the ECE Cup after concluding the six matches with four wins against the selections of France B, Portugal, France, Poland (6-2, 7-4, 5-2, 4-1, respectively) and to fit their only two defeats against Germany.

In the final they faced Germany for the second time, at which they showed a high level they again fell by a 5-8 achieving, in turn achieving the second position in the general of the ECE Cup, with the sum of points of this and the championship held in Milan last May.

The senior women's team also played six games winning three wins against Sweden, Switzerland and Denmark. (1-4, 3-2 and 2-1, respectively) and three defeats against the Netherlands, Germany and Great Britain (4-2, 3-1 and 3-2, respectively), which placed them in the seventh square.

The women's team sub21 after fighting 8 matches - three empates to the Dutch selections twice 4-4, 3-3 and Ireland 2-2, a victory against Ireland 3-0 and 4 defeats against Germany, France, Poland, Great Britain with results of 7-0, 5-1, 4-1 and 6-0, respectively, achieved sixth place.

The team sub21 men ended in eighth place after playing 5 games with 3 wins to Belgium B, Ireland and Portugal (7-0.6-3 and 0-3) and falling defeated to Switzerland and Denmark (5-9 and 3-2).
