Success in Barcelona de la Laser Master

With six trials in each division, two this Sunday, the Barcelona Laser Master Championship 2018, Trophy Tecnocasa, has proclaimed Mónica Azón in the Radial Division and Carlos Martínez in Standard. Both have completely dominated their respective fleets: Monica has won in each and every one of the six trials, while Carlos has imposed himself in the first five and was "hunted" at the exit, with black flag, in the sixth, which did not prevent him from beating the rest of the fleet with comfort.

In Laser Master, 67 participants, including 7 girls, entered the largest fleet. The current European champion of the specialty, Monica Azón, of the Nautical Club of El Masnou has been imposed with authority by winning the six tests. The second one has been the Dutch Freek de Miranda, with a second, a third and a fourth as the best partial. Third in the table, the also Dutch, of the category Grand Master Wilmar Groenendijk that has passed from sixth to third thanks to two excellent results on this last day, which moved Xavier Boluda from third to fourth place of the classification. In the female Grand Master category, victory of Silvia Ravetllat, of the Nautical Club of El Balís, place 10 of the General.

The absolute domain of the bat Carlos Martínez in Laser Standard and the recovery of the medalist and world champion Josele Dorest, who has managed to finish in second place, overcoming Leandro Rosado who lost his options by being disqualified at the exit of the last test and ended up in third place. Fourth has been Antonio Roig with a second and a third as best partial. The other gold medallists present did not find their moment: José María van der Ploeg was ninth with a quarter as the best partial and Miguel Noguer ended up in position 14 with two nobles as the best partial.

Mónica Azón en Radial and Carlos Martínez en Standard dominate in Catalan waters the Laser Master Regata that is organizing the Real Club Náutico de Barcelon-... both European champions of the specialty, have been imposed on each and every one of the disputed tests, thus consolidating in the first positions of the general classifications.

In Laser Standard the second classified is Leandro Rosado (7 - 2 - 5) tied to points with Josele Doreste (2 - 3 - 8). Fourth classified, Antoni Roig del CV Calella, just one point from the above. In Radial, with 67 participants, the second is the Dutch Freek de Miranda (4 - 2 - 3) and third Xavier Boluda three points from the previous. So are the classifications after four tests and a discard.

After several hours of deferral due to the lack of wind, in Barcelona for its annual laser master's appointment, it was finally possible to give the exits for the Standard and Radial Laser... with a smooth breeze of five knots.

While the first, a thirty ships, left the first without problems, the Standard, 67 in total, were much more fighting and the Committee had to make up to four general calls because the tension of the competition made the participants cross the line of departure before the signal.

In the Standard category, the European Master Champion, Carlos Martínez, of Real Club de Regatas de Santiago de la Ribera, was imposed several times. The Olympic Gold Medal in Finn participants Josele Doreste and José María van der Ploeg did not have their day, possibly damaged by the soft wind; Doreste, the recent World Master Champion in Finn, would end up in fourth place and van der Ploeg the tenth. The three regatists mentioned are part of the Grand Master category, since they have already reached the age of 55 at a certain rate.

The Red Leadro Apprentice, of the Nàutic Bétulo Club, has been the second ranked, followed by Grand Master Antoni Roig of the Calella Sailing Club. The Laser Radio division has also imposed several times the European Champion of the specialty, the Olympic Mónica Azón, of the Nàutic Club El Masnou. Second classified Xabier Boluda of the Nautico Club El Balís, followed by the Italian Sergio Franca, by Circolo Vela Torbole.

The Barcelona Laser Master Championship 2018 is organized by the Foundació del Reial Club Nàutico in Barcelona and will be held at the Port Forum, at the Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC), until July 1.

The Barcelona Laser Master Championship 2018 will be held on a maximum of nine tests and will compete regatists with a minimum of 35 years completed in the Standard modalities, which is the demanding classic gear of this ship and Radial, with a candle of less surface. The Standard division is for men only while the Radial supports women and men.

The categories of participants, for both parties, are aged from decade to decade, from the "young people" of the group Apprenz (35-44) to the Legend Master over 75 venerable years, according to the following table:

At the moment, 100 participants, 33 in Standard and 67 in the most civilized radio, including 11 girls, are registered. Among the registered names illustrious as the Olympic Gold medals in Finn José María van der Ploeg, Josele Doreeste, also recent Finn Master World Champion in El Balís and Miguel Noguer, Gold medal in Tallin 1980 as a crew member of the FD. The races will start at 3: 00 in the afternoon the first day, which will be Friday... while Saturday and Sunday will be at 12: 00.
