This morning the Superyacht Cup Palma 2018 has started in the waters of the bay of Palma, which celebrates this year its 22nd edition with the presence of some of the most beautiful ships on the international scene. From Wallys like Saudade, to Quechs like Aquarius or Sojana, gulets like the giant Athos and, of course, the Class J, boats with which the first editions of the America's Cup were held, are gathered this week in the Mallorcan waters, offering a unique show that can be seen from the promenade.

The inaugural day was attended only by class J, single-mast vessels that were built to participate in the first America's Cup, and that were recreated years after the class's resurgence. Velsheda and Svea have faced two intense tests that have ended with a victory for each of these legends of the seas, and final tie in the general classification.

It is the largest and oldest superyacht event in Europe, with the participation of Class J, old American Cup ships

From 19 to 23 June, the world's largest and most spectacular boats will be gathered in Palma de Mallorca Bay to discuss the twenty-second edition of the largest and longest superyacht race in Europe, the "Superyacht Cup Palma." This is an exclusive test in which it is only possible to participate with invitation, and which brings together a sample of the most beautiful and powerful ships in the world, governed by crews that count on their having campaigns of America's Cup and Volvo Ocean Race, among other titles... among the participants is the presence of the Class J, which made fury at the beginning of the last century in the American Cup.

The Class J will open the competition on Wednesday June 20 in Palma Bay, with the addition of the rest of the fleet on Thursday 21, offering a unique show that can be seen from the coast... while the superyachts, which will compete from Thursday 21, will sail divided into classes A, B and C, with the incorporation of the Corinthian class as a novelty in 2018, in which it will sail without spinakker and with a reduced crew.

The Superyacht Cup was founded in 1996 as a ship crew meeting waiting to cross the Atlantic at the end of the Mediterranean sailing season, and since that date it has not left the island except in 2007, which was held in Valencia on the occasion of the America's Cup. Since then, the most impressive ships of all time have crossed their line of departure, with some of the most prominent regatists on the international scene, who for 22 years have not wanted to miss an exclusive and unique event, both in water and land.
