06 / 06 / 2018: An impressive fleet of 78 J70 prepared in Vigo for the beginning of the European
The full podium of the European 2017 from J70 goes to Galicia in the spirit of achieving glory again. This is the case of the Italian Claudia Rossi (European Champion 2016 and 2017) with her "Petite Terrible," the cantabre José María Torcida with the "Noticia," the subchampion of Europe 2017, and the American team that captains Peter Duncan, "Relative Obscurity" on the third step of the podium and which also has the world title.
One of the most expected teams is that of the J70 World Champion who is the American Peter Duncan and who comes to Vigo with great expectations: "I have decided to compete in Europe this season because the level is very high and European teams are achieving great performance. Last year the hospitality I found competing in Italy and the United Kingdom was fabulous," says the American pattern referring to his next stop in Galicia as follows: "I have never sailed in Vigo waters but I have heard great things about the conditions for sailing and the city, so I think it's a great opportunity."
Duncan also augurs a very tight continental title struggle: "The level of the fleet in Europe and the intensity of its races have certainly increased a lot. There are 78 ships registered in Vigo, it's spectacular! I hope we can all sail in one group, because that would be really interesting.".
Among the great figures of the world sail, the British Olympic and world champion of Nacra 17 Ben Saxton will sail on board the "Jeepster," the Brazilian winner of the world-round race (Volvo Ocean Race) and Olympic Horacio Carabelli will compete with the team "Urubu" or the shipowner of the Italian team in the America's Cup 2003 and 2007 Vicenzo Onorato will compete with his boat "Mascalzone Latino," among others.
