The naval design company Olive Design received yesterday the "Aixe Getxo" 2018 Award in the category of Architecture, a award that the town council of this town has granted for eight years to people and initiatives related to the municipality that work in the field of culture in its broader concept: visual, plastic and performing arts, music, literature, design, science and innovation, among other specialities.
This is the first time that the award, in the category of architecture, recognizes a trajectory linked not to urban buildings or infrastructure, but to the design and design of ships.... a recognition of a local firm with a trajectory of almost 30 years at the service of the naval industry, with a bagage of more than 400 projects of ships of the most varied type for shipowners of the world: from school ships to recreational and tourist yachts, passing by transport ships, fishing, dredges, ferries, cruises, etc.
Oliver Design has also been finalist in the third edition of the FINE Awards (Promotion of the Spanish Naval Industry), in the category of "Advanced Maritime Engineering Project"the design of a fast Ferry for the Baleària shipping, designed with criteria of eco-efficiency and sustainability. Each unit has the capacity to accommodate 350 passengers, with a catamaran-type helmet and an innovative bow that facilitates navigation under adverse conditions. The material of the hull is more ecological, and has solar plates and state-of-the-art engines, which reduce by 35% CO2 emissions from ships of similar characteristics.
