The American ship of Japanese Takashi Okura wins the coastal race of the Šibenik 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week with an exhibition from beginning to end... Platoon stays only in the lead after being third with Paprec second

Regularity. That's what this is about... So he's sailing the Platoon of Harm Müller-Spreer. A first, a fourth and a third today in the long race, almost a 30-mile marathon surrounding the Adriatic islands, have served him to head the Šibenik 52 Super Series Sailing Week. And it's in the lead with five rent points on Dean Barker's Quantum Racing that on the coast has only been able to end in eighth position after not being able to recover from an off-line at the exit.

The two Italian favorites, Azzurra and Luna Rossa, had a bad day and ended tenth and ninth with what they have dangerously removed from the head of the classification in Croatia. The one who remains very solid is the Onda of the Brazilian shipowner Eduardo de Souza Ramos that today with the fifth final square in the long trial is maintained in the third square of the general which for them is a real dream after throwing out his Botín in April in Valencia.

The others were, in some cases, a real nuisance as is the case with the two Italian ships that choose to win in the season: Azzurra and Luna Rossa. The first close was fundamental. It was all played there. And those who didn't come out of the barlovento buoy paid it very expensive. Classification after the third sleeve:

1. Platoon (GER) (Harm Müller-Spreer) (1,4.3) 8 points
2. Quantum Racing (USA) (Doug DeVos) (4,1,8) 13
3. Onda (BRA) (Eduardo de Souza Ramos) (2,7,5) 14
4. Sled (USA) (Takashi Okura) (12,3.1) 16
5. Provides (TUR) (Ergin Imre) (5,9,4) 18
6. Paprec Recyclage (FRA) (Jean Luc Petithuenin) (6,12,2) 20
7. Gladiator (GBR) (Tony Langley) (10 (+ 2 PEN), 2.7) 21
8. Luna Rossa (ITA) (Patrizio Bertelli) (7,5.9) 21
9. Azzurra (ARG / ITA) (Alberto Roemmers) (3,10,10) 23
10. Alegre (USA / GBR) (Andrés Soriano) (9,8,6) 23
11. Phoenix (RSA) (Hasso / Tina Plattner) (8.6.11) 25
12. XIO Hurakan (ITA) (Marco Seraponi) (11,11,12) 34

22 / 05 / 2018: The 52 Super Series with 12 ships from 9 countries premiere in Sibenik

La temporada comienza mañana en Croacia y terminará en Valencia en septiembre... Azzurra expone el título de 2017 y parece que llega en buena forma a su defensa

The season begins tomorrow in Croatia and will end in Valencia in September... Azzurra exposes the title of 2017 and seems to get in good shape to his defence

Šibenik and its wonderful coasts and islands will tomorrow be the ideal place where the best 52 Super Series in history... 12 ships from nine countries, the best regatists in the world and a competition that is a benchmark of competitiveness.

The season opened today with the training race and will end in September in Valencia where the title of 2018 will be decided. Between the Croatian city and the Valencian city the test will pass through Zadar in June, Cascais in July and Puerto Portals in August. Five races, almost fifty sleeves all to direct the final winner of the 52 Super Series. Nine new ships are officially released today in Adriatic waters. Seven designs of Bottle and two of Vrolijk.

But from what has been the preseason, from the custom and from what is seen today in the training race it seems that the current title defender, the Azzurra of Guillermo Parada and Santi Lange, is in good shape to the inaugural race. It also serves as a reference to what happened in the Palma Vela where they proclaimed themselves winners of which was the unofficial race of pre-season. Together with Sled and Phoenix has been the most trained team and have a lot of work done with their experience from previous years. Today they have dominated the training race, so tomorrow they will go out in the water with the confidence that they have done everything in their hands to get as best as possible to the premiere.

In today's training race behind Azzurra was the Platoon of Harm Müller-Spreer, although neither of them passed the line of arrival. The first to do so was Quantum Racing followed by Sled. The Germans return this year with the same crew of the previous year that led them to be second on the circuit and to proclaim themselves world champions. The five Spaniards who had been in this crew last year, Calafat, Mas, Plaza, Mariño and Ribes, returned.
