The classes that will remain Olympic in Paris 2024 are 49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17, as well as the Laser class, although it is under study subject to compliance with the Antimonopoly Law... Windsurfing would remain Olympic discipline but it remains to be decided what type of equipment will be used... The World Sailing has left open the possibility of maintaining the current team, evolving it or choosing a new one.

The Royal Spanish Vela Federation held a special General Assembly on Saturday at the BISC in Barcelona to approve the 2018 budgets and summarize the agreements reached by the World Sailing regarding the classes that will be Olympic at the JJOO in Paris 2024.

The 2018 budget presented by the Economic Vice President, Javier Sanz, shows a 12.14% growth in income and a surplus of 83,000 euros. "We have gone through a stage of restrictive budgets to recover the balance and now we can present expansive budgets that are also more focused on sport and less on the structure, "said Javier Sanz.

In this new cycle, the RFEV will distribute to the national sailing collective the benefits of the economic recovery achieved after three years of intense work. "We increase our commitment to high competition sailing with a game of 2,918,000 euros for the Olympic team in this third cycle. We will also spend about 300,000 euros on youth sailing."

President Casanueva has transferred to the Assemblies the decisions and considerations made by the World Sailing, International Sailing Federation, earlier this week at her Mid Year Conference meeting in London and at which the Olympic events were decided at the JJOO Paris 2024.

As Casanueva pointed out, "The World Sailing, following the lines marked by the IOC on its 2020 agenda, is committed to more representative events, with Universality, Youth Appeal and Innovation, Gender Equality at the level of participants and events, in which men and women are at the same level making the sailing one of the sports most committed to gender equality... The World Sailing wants to make the sailing a global sport, involving as many people as possible and having followers worldwide."

After several votes, the new events approved by the World Sailing Council, representative of all countries, are: male Windsurfing, female Windsurfing, mixed Kiteboard, Double Mix and One-person mixed dyghy. Competition and Equipment Format will be approved at the World Sailing Annual Assembly in November 2018.
