The World Sailing decides the events for the 2024 Olympic Games
After a long debate and decision-making process within the World Sailing's Council, the events of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games were confirmed. Prior to the meeting, it was announced that the following Events and your Team would remain unchanged, with the warning that in the cases of the two laser modalities, everything agreed upon remains subject to the re-evaluation of separate equipment.

The five remaining events in Paris 2024 were also discussed and confirmed that they would be the following... noting that the new team is chosen after the team tests... and that the presentations for the 2018 Annual Conference should summarize the main criteria to be used to select any new equipment
Male Windsurfing (The current equipment can be maintained, evolved or a new equipment can be chosen)
Women's Windsurfing (The current equipment can be maintained, evolved or a new equipment can be chosen)
New event: Mixed Dynghy for a person (* to be selected new equipment)

New event: Kitesurf mixed (* to be selected new equipment)
Before the mid-year meeting, the World Sailing Committee of Adapted Sailing presented a list of events and formats for the 2024 Paralympic Games that World Sailing will present to the International Paralympic Committee as part of the restitution process... the presentation of Betsy Alison, representative of the World Sailing Committee of Adapted Sailing, was unanimously approved by Council members... the World Sailing events and formats for Paralympic Competition 2024, subject to the approval of the International Paralympic Committee, are:
Event: One Person Technical (open genre)
Format: Fleet race; barlovento / sotavento tour; opening series after which the first ten will compete in the Medal Race.
Event: Single Peru Non-Technical - Male
Event: Single Peru Non-Technical - Female
Format: Short barlovent / sotavent tour. Opening series followed by Knock-outs for access to the finals or Medal Race.
Event: keel boat for two people (open genre)
Format: Short-course "Heat Style" sleeves with "Late Stage" Knock-outs. Final in which the winner wins or Medal Race.
On 9 July, the World Sailing will submit an application package to the International Paralympic Committee. By the end of the year, the ICC will report the sports that meet its criteria and could be included in the 2024 Sports Programme. In January 2019, the ICC will announce the Paris 2024 Paralympic Sports Program.
World Sailing Executive Director Andy Hunt presented the World Sailing strategy 2018-2022, which was approved by the Council... the strategy is divided into four pillars that include:
- Inspiration and participation: Build a solid profile and image for the candle, using our key points of difference to resonate in people and give them a sports life. Presenting sport in an attractive and interesting way to attract and retain a broad base of followers worldwide
- Membresy and governance: To provide a professional and valuable service to our members that allows sport to grow in relevance and influence. Establish a governance structure within the International Federation that is simple, clear and transparent to all stakeholders
- Sports integrity: Create and regulate exciting and secure competition events with justice and integrity.
- Leadership in sport: Providing leadership to sport through strategies that ensure its sustainability and long-term growth. Find collaboration with partners to offer successful implementation
- Each pillar is divided into more detailed strategies with measures included. The strategic plan will be published on the World Sailing website.
