The Zamoran Eva Barrios and the Catalan Albert Corominas, in K1, and the Galician Diego Romero in C1 have today achieved the classification to take part in the European Championship of Piragüismo in the marathon mode from 5 to 8 July in Croatia, by winning this morning the II Cup of Spain of Marathon, on the first day of the competition of long-distance Piragüism that is disputed this weekend in Pontevedra, with the participation of 559 palists belonging to 70 clubs.

In C1 the triumph has been for Albert Corominas, kayakista of the Natacio Bayoles world's subchampion in K2 in 2010 with Jorge Alonso, by imposing on a very tight arrival in a group of six palists, of which the Leoness José Julián Becerro (The Rapids) and the asturiamo Miguel Llorens (Cultural and Sports Society Ribadesella) were the ones who accompanied him at the podium posts.

In the K1 of women the Zamoran Eva Barrios (Durius) was awarded the triumph ahead of the Amaia Osaba (Piragüismo Pamplona) and the Catalan Aurora Figueras (Natacio Baynoles), which have finished second and third, respectively. Barrios, winner of the bronze medal in the European 2017 marathon and owner of three other medals in continental sprint dates in the distance of 5,000 meters, made the second part of the race pulling in the head.

In C1, the Galician Diego Romero (Breogán), a double medalist in Marathon World, has reached the victory in a tight hand-in-hand with his club partner Manuel Antonio Campos, who accompanies 15 preseas on world-wide dates.
