This year the Trophy of Vela Conde Godó will have a second act, to commemorate the 45 years of the Barcelona competition... a new race that will join the Catalan capital with Saint- Tropez, on the Blue Coast, with departure on June 7, is a 230 nautical mile journey, designed for the fleet that wants to travel to Saint- Tropez to fight the famous Rolex Giraglia, which takes place in Saint- Tropez from June 10 to 12, under the organization of the Italian Yacht Club

The 45th edition of the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, one of the most important nautical competitions in the Mediterranean and the dean of cruises in Spain, will be held from 24 to 27 May in Barcelona waters. Fifteen days to start this prestigious sports event that consolidates Barcelona as a major reference in the organization of international races, the competition has been presented this noon at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, organizer since 1974 with the support of the Godó family.

More than 50 boats and 500 regatists will meet at the 45 Sail Trophy Conde Godó, whose presentation has been chaired by the president and the comandoro of the RCNB, Félix Escalas and Marc de Antonio, respectively; the Commissioner of Sports of the Ajuntament of Barcelona, Marta Carranza; the director of the Consell Català de l'Esport of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Toni Reig; Jordi Parés, of the Federació Catalana de Vela, and Ana Godó, on behalf of the Godó Group.

The Barcelona competition has called for the ORC and J80-type cruise classes, in a meeting of international prestige that attracts ships from six countries fighting for the famous sirens with which the winner of each category is awarded.

Last year's four winners, the Rats on Fire (which accumulates eight wins, five of them consecutive) in ORC 0-1, L'Immens in ORC 2, the Fanytas in ORC 3-4 and the Moviistar-Bribon in J80, have confirmed their participation in the 45th anniversary race. Other units already registered that will be expected in the fight for the podium are the Adrián Hoteles tinerfeño, the Vell Marí V mallorquín and the Swiss Kajsa III, among others.

The 45 Sail Trophy Count of Godo has three days of testing scheduled. Thursday 24 is the day reserved for registration of participants and weight control of single type crews. The races will take place from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 May, with a total of seven tests planned for the ORC and ten for the J80. The 45 Sail Trophy Conde Godó will close the award ceremony, which will be held on the same Sunday day 27 in the village of the Royal Nautical Club of Barcelona.
