Craviotto today won his first medal after the JJOO in the Second Cup of Spain

The quadruple Olympic medalist Saul Craviotto, after reaching a double in JJOO 2016, has today achieved the gold medal in the first competition in which he takes part after the Brazilian meeting by imposing himself with Rodrigo Germade in the K2 200 meters test of the II Cup of Spain of Olympic Esprint, in which the Aranjuez Piragüismo has scored a new victory this season in the classification by clubs.

In a total of half a hundred palists from 76 clubs have participated in the Cup, held in the regatta field of Trasona (Asturias), where yesterday the Olympic champion of K1 1,000 meters won the silver medal in K1 200, behind the Galician Carlos Arévalo.

Craviotto and Germade, both of the UCAM of Murcia, have won in the final of K2 200 meters ahead of Carlos Garrote and Ruben Vicente of the Durius Zamora, which have been second, while the third place has been for the 2008 Olympic champion of Beijing Carlos Pérez Rial - Craviotto's partner in his first Olympic medal - and Diego Da Costa of the Ria de Aldán de Pontevedra.

Another Olympic champion, the Galician Cristian Toro, has not been able to overcome the series in the same test in which he pounded with his fellow Lugo Francisco Vázquez, a 57-year-old veteran with thirty medals in veteran world championships. Vázquez and Toro, who has also competed in K2 200 to contribute to the sum of points for their team, have been left two posts from the pass.

In female canoe, the podium has been repeated with the same winners in K2 200 and K2 500, with dominion of Jenifer Casal and Antita Jácome (City of Pontevedra) in gold, followed by Patricia Coco and Cristina San Juan (Deportivo Cisne) and Andrea Vázquez and Sofia Mariño (Boiro), silver and bronze, respectively.

In women, the gallegos of the Kayak Tudense Tania Fernández and Ana Varela, gold in K2 500 and bronze in K2 200, have also been raised twice to the podium.

In canoe the international baleares Sete Benavides and Antoni Segura have doubled in the first place of C2 by winning in the distances of 200 and 500 meters, as well as the Galician Sergio Vallejo (Poio), third in 500 and second in 200 with different companions.

Among the cast of Olympic, global and European medalists who have gathered in the competition is the presence of the Spanish sportsman who won the most Olympic preseas, the Galician canoist David Cal, a five-fold medalist. The pontevedrés is the current delegate of piragüism of the UCAM, who has completed the competition at number 16.

By clubs the classification notes the good moment of the School of Piragüismo Aranjuez, which is recorded a new triumph this season, in which it does not leave the first place since the start of the campaign when it was taken to the leadership after defeating the Kayak Tudense in the Spanish Winter Championship.

During the weekend, the attraction of seeing figures of sporting prestige compete has joined the exhibition in Trasona of the four trophies of the National Sports Awards 2016 received by Spanish piragüism in recognition of their successes in the JJOO de Rio. With these cups, hundreds of people, including fans, palists, leaders and the winners of one of them, such as Saul Craviotto, the winner of the King Felipe- and Cristian Toro and Rodrigo Germade - a component of the Spanish Olympic team of Rio distinguished with the Baron Cup of Güell- are also shown the trophies corresponding to the Reina Letizia Prize (which was awarded in Maialen Chourraut) and King Juan Carlos (delivered to Marcus Cooper Walz).
