According to the prestigious website of the sector, Canary Ports, echoing information from ABC... the Nordic company Nortuna has confirmed the launch of operations this year in Gran Canaria in order to enter the business of bluefin tuna husbandry. Jan Helge Dahl will implement a plan this year following his experience on the islands with Fortuna Mare.

In particular, the idea is to develop pilot operations that will be complemented in Norway by the listed bluefin tuna, which on the market would have a price of up to EUR 50 per kilo, according to the financial estimates to which ABC has had access. Water temperature is essential for investment to be cost-effective and self-financing.

Investment in the islands is pending the closure of the entry of new partners into the capital of the society and where there will be no Spanish capital. There is a public investment fund from Norway in the company.

The land and sea infrastructure in the Canary Islands is now ready. We hardly have to invest in land and hire specialized staff at island universities. In Gran Canaria there is a Faculty of Marine Sciences. The reason for starting the operation on the islands is because of the costs and fiscal framework of the archipelago.
