"Scallywag" is already back in the water... "Mapfre" will stage with a crew member less for Sophie Ciszek's injury
All ready for the start tomorrow of the eighth stage of the Volvo Ocean Race, which will have the fleet in full after the "SHK / Scallywag" has fought against the clock to put the ship in time after arriving in Itajai last Thursday. Departure to Newport will be at 2 p.m. local (7 p.m. peninsular time in Spain)
The collaboration of the Boatyard, the team itself, the suppliers and the other participants have made it possible to prepare the ship in record time... the "Scallywag" arrived from Puerto Montt after withdrawing from the previous stage by the fall to water of its crew member John Fisher.
In the ranks of the "Mapfre," which comes from winning the In-Port race in Itajai, there will be an absence on board: that of Sophie Ciszek, who has not been able to recover from an elbow injury and the team has decided to face the stage with a less crew member. The overall classification of the Volvo Ocean Race is as follows:
1. Dongfeng Race Team (Charles Caudrelier), 46 points
2. Mapfre (Xabi Fernández), 45
3. Team Brunel (Bouwe Bekking), 36
4. team AkzoNobel (Simeon Testipont), 33
5. Sun Hung Kai / Scallywag (David Witt), 26
6. Vestas 11th Hour Racing (Charlie Enright), 23
7. Turn the Tide on Plastic (Dee Caffari), 20
