The Petrouchka III, of the shipowner Jaime Binimelis, has today proclaimed itself the winner of the VI Volta to Mallorca A3. This is the fourth time that the boat of the Real Club Náutico de Palma is awarded this competition, which consists of circumvalating the island of Mallorca without a stop on sailing boats with certificate of compensation ORC manned by no more than three people. The journey consists of 151 miles.

The Petrouchka is given both if the strong wind blows and if the navigation runs under the influence of a great anti-cyclone, this has been the case for these two days. The record of the winner of the 2018 edition is the best proof of its versatility and the hardness of regating without wind: the Binimelis team has needed 44 hours and 40 minutes to travel the same distance that it completed in 2015 in 26 hours and 19 minutes.

Never before had the return to Mallorca been so slow nor had so many ships been classified as not finished because they could not meet their time limit.

Of the 18 ships that took the exit last Friday, only two (Petrouchka III and S'Avenc, by Antoni Marques, with a 48: 32 chrono) have crossed the line of arrival. This unheard of in the previous five editions has been due to very loose weather conditions and huge calm areas around the island.
