The Jedriličarski klub Val Šibenik closed yesterday the IOM-class European Championship, a meeting that began on April 8 in the small Croatian town of Rogoznica in which the 57 best radio control regatists met. In the Spanish team three representatives of the Comunitat Valenciana, with Guillermo Beltri, Ginés Romero and José Vinaxa, all of them from the RCN Torrevieja.
Beltri came to the international event as one of the great favorites and one of the key pieces of the Spanish team. The torreviejense did not fail in a somewhat complicated race field with a very high fleet level. After 22 tests completed in the five days the regatist of the nautical of Torrevieja managed to conclude in the fourth square with 112 points, just 5 points to achieve the bronze that, in the end, was awarded it by the British Rob Walsh, another favorite in the European.
The other two representatives of the FVCV achieved good partial and good classification, in general terms. It is noted that Ginés Romero, who was able to conclude in the 15th square of the absolute general with 262 points. José Vinaxa, for his part, follows an ascending line, although his position 33 in Croatia does not fit much to the level that the torreviejense has shown in the last races.
The absolute podium had local color as the first and second square respectively were for Zvonko Jelačić with 89.6 points and Ante Kovačević adding 91 points. Spain, along with Beltri and Romero, managed to classify among the 15 best regatists: Miguel Salvador Iriarte (CV Puerto de Andratx).
