Leticia Canales finalista en el Pro Zarautz de Surfing
Leticia Canales finalista en el Pro Zarautz de Surfing

The Vizcaine Leticia Canales is second with an exceptional performance and the Galician Vicente Romero and the also vizcaine Garazi Sánchez finish third
An exciting final on the Pro Zarautz was closed on the mythical Gipuzcoana beach, which crowned the French Jorgann Couzinet and Pauline Ado as the test champions. At the fifth European stop of the International Qualifying Series of the World Surf League (WSL) in Europe, the Spanish have played a great role and have been able to get into the podium in both the female and male categories.
A great role of the female army, with a second and third position, demonstrate the level of surfing in the Basque country. In the first female semifinal the Vizcaine Garazi Sánchez would make a big manga, although it would not be enough to appeal to the current ISA world champion, the French Pauline Ado. In the other semi-final Leticia Canales would be imposed on the Portuguese Camilla Kemp. Channels with a first wave that was delivered with 6.33 points to which he added a 6.77 were enough to beat the luse.
It was the turn of the male category with the first semi-finalists in the water: Jorgann Couzinet (FRA) and Vicente Romero (ESP). The appearance of soft cross wind did not prevent both of them from bringing out their best weapons to print speed to their surfing and to search for sections with potential, skill for which the reunion, the current WSL European champion, is known. Couzinet only needed four waves to score a sleeve score of 16.50 points, thanks to two good waves of 7.33 and 9.17 points, the latter with a spectacular air review as closure. The ferroman sought persistently to improve his score (5.67 and 5.33), but finally he could not with the galo.
The female finale placed Pauline Ado (FRA) and Leticia Canales (EUK) at the peak. The quality and regularity of both surfers was tested in the decisive battle for the Txapula of Zarautz, in which the choice of wave was key to achieving the final victory, finally decanted in favor of the French surfer thanks to a score of 10.67 points (4.67 and 6.00). Despite its second position (4.47 and 3.10), the sopelatarra again demonstrated its claw and theson, after crossing a complicated knee injury. It is certainly one of the women to beat on the European tour.
07 / 04 / 2018: 10 Spanish surfers classified for the final octaves of the Pro Zarautz

Hodei Collón, Gony Zubizarreta, Vicente Romero, Imanol Yeregi and Arritz Aranburu in the male category and Garazi Sánchez, Sara Urresti, Leticia Canales, Nadia Erostarbe, Violeta Sánchez and Lucía Martiño in the female category
Second day of the World Surf League test competition being held in the Basque town of Zarautz. In unbeatable conditions the surf level and the waves shone with their own light.
In the male picture the first to certify their pass to the final octaves were surfers Hodei Collón and Gony Zubizarreta. Both shared manga and advance to the next round with a consistent repertoire resulting from their contrasting experience as international competitors.
Nor did the grancanary Luis Díaz who kept a nice take and daca with the European champion Jorgann Couzinet (FRA) for the victory of the fourth manga. The Coruñés Vicente Romero and the zarauztarra Imanol Yeregi joined the list of national surfers who got the pass to the octavos in the end. He also got his pass the local Arritz Aranburu that did not secure his classification until the final steps of his manga.
In the female picture, the viscaine Garazi Sánchez initialled a masterful intervention with the best wave of the event to date (9.23 points). Vizcainas were also two of the surfers who also achieved their ticket for the octave finals: Sara Urresti and Leticia Canales, to which were added the Violeta Sánchez and the asturian Lucía Martiño. The heat of the public led to an acclaimed Nadia Erostarbe also towards the next round in a nice hand-to-hand against the portentous Australian surfer Mikaela Greene.
09 / 03 / 2018: "In April activities a thousand..." in which it is presumed spectacular Pro Zarautz of Surfing

The iconic test will replace the continental surf elite around the beach of Zarautz, from 4 to 8 April, to confirm its great organizational growth and promotional reach
After its triumphant passage through the island of Tenerife and after it is on a scale in exotic places in Hawaii, Australia, the United States, Argentina, Peru or Polynesia over the next few weeks, the Qualifying Series of the World Surf League (WSL) is preparing to set a course for Basque lands and welcome, as each season, the best surfers on the European scene with its acclaimed 'Pro Zarautz'. It will be during Easter Week, from April 4 to 8, in a new and expected edition of the test that hopes to overcome last year's success. More than 30,000 people followed with interest the previous edition on the beach, a figure that gives a good account of the enormous expectation generated by the historic test, recovered in the international calendar in 2016.
With a category of QS1,500 and a $44,000 money prize, the event will have the presence of the most prominent male and female European ranking surfers, who will also be joined by international Riders, who will seek to improve their position in the world rankings, which will return for a few days to Zarautz that memorable multicultural environment that so popular made the town of Guipuzcoana in the 1990s and which has given rise, today, to one of the most solid and consolidated quarries of national surfing.
It is precisely Basque surfers who head the list of favorites in view of the latest results. Thus, the zarauztarra Rubén Vitoria leads the European general in male category, the result of his recent triumph in the Americas Pro Tenerife, while the Vizcaine Leticia Canales occupies the fourth position in female, tied to points with the canaria Daniela Quirós, positions of privilege that they will have to defend during the next continental scales of the tour in Basse-Pointe (Martinica) and Costa da Caparica (Portugal).
The knowledge of the spot is one of the most important determinants of the gipuzcoan test, a beach with a sand background and with very variable peaks depending on the tide. Many historic winners have achieved the highest level of professional surfing thanks to their success in Zarautz: Gabriel Medina (world champion 2014), Pauline Ado (European champion 2016), Jonathan González (European champion 2016) or Arritz Aranburu (first state surfer classified on the Championship Tour) are some examples. The winners of the last edition, the Portuguese Carol Henrique and the Galician Gony Zubizarreta, also caressed the glory by achieving the European championship and subchampionship, respectively.
The musical section is in particular one of the strong dishes of the program that will shape the so-called FederArte Pro Festibala, which will offer live performances of bands such as Delorean, Willis Drummond or Nerabe, thanks to the agreement reached between the GSF (Gipuzkoako Surf Federazioa) and the EHSF (Euskal Herriko Surf Federazioa) with Kataputa Tour Gipuzkoa. Sports and leisure section will form the perfect ingredients for this new edition of the event to be cooked by slow heat by the best "professional European surf chefs" and tasted by the most exquisite audience, and where even the very same Karos Arguñano, Ambassador of the Basque cuisine, will act as master of ceremonies - in this case, of the event's teaser - to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of its first edition (1988), 30 years in which it has been able to combine its enormous sporting, tourist and media impact to become now a global reference of organizational growth and promotional development.
A proposal to the Basque Academy of Language: To incorporate a new word ARGUIÑANOLARI (good person, nice, humble, noble, intelligent, very working, friend of his friends, in love with his land and as a dessert... a piece of cook)
