The Vela Center of the Federation of Madrilela de Vela in the San Juan reservoir is on the way to being a reality. The first and most important step took place last Friday, in the plenary of the City of San Martín de ValdeIglesias in which the free transfer of a plot of just over 1,300 square meters that will house the facilities for teaching and sports use was approved.

The centre will have a constructed area of approximately 450m2 on one floor, according to the first sketch presented and which may have some modification. The building will have a multi-purpose room 184 m2, office, address, kitchen, two bedrooms with an area of approximately 45m2 each, as well as two locker rooms. It will also have a direct access to water ramp.

For the president of the Federation of Madrilela de Vela, Guillermo Poyán, "The first step has already been taken, and in that sense we would like to thank the City of San Martín de ValdeIglesias, all of them, for the cession of the plot and the firm commitment to the promotion of sport. I think there's been a great deal of work and a great effort on the part of everyone that's going to be for the benefit of sport...The Vela Centre was one of the objectives we had set ourselves and is now getting closer to achieving it... the work is not over and we must complete this important work to be a whole a reference in the Community of Madrid with national projection. "
