The Spanish Association of Boats of Epoch and Classics, is an association that promotes the traditional nautical culture, the conservation, restoration, reconstruction and navigation of the classic ships, as well as the hobby for them. It considers a classic boat to be all that driven by sailing or motor, for recreation and sport, built in wood or metal materials prior to 1980, as well as subsequent replicas based on plans and materials corresponding to the period before 1980.
Its main objective is to promote interest in the classic ships and the culture of the traditional nautical and has recently launched through its website the Spanish Register of Ships of Epoch and Classics, to which have the right to register all those ships that can be considered heritage (yachts, Latin sailing, onerous, museum ships and even the specials), and have Spanish pavilion or its port of mooring in Spain.
The function of the Register is to census the Spanish nautical heritage in private and public hands, with the intention of making it known and to establish the forms of collaboration with the authorities and other entities, national or international, interested in the regulation and conservation of the naval heritage.
Founded in 2009 and based in the Nàutic d'Arenys de Mar Club, the AEBEC has the collaboration of the Association of Naval and Ocean Engineers of Spain, the Royal National Cruise Association, the Real Maritime Club of Barcelona and the Real Nautical Club of Barcelona.
