SAIL IN closed its fifth edition, which has marked a before and after in the history of this cultural initiative that collects cinema, talks, exhibitions, masterclass and a new day for professionals. In addition to bringing together in Bilbao the most relevant personalities at the international level in the sailing world, such as the recall François Gabart or the legend Loïck Peyron, he has also managed to move everything around this passion not only to the fans of this type of navigation, but to an audience totally alien to it.

The two films premiere about François Gabart, a record of the return to the world by sailing alone and without scales with his MACIF trimaran; the premiere for Europe of Coyote a Thomas Simmons film that tells the life of the legendary Mike Plant; the new challenge of Susie Goodall, the only woman participating in the new Golden Globe Race; the history of the Fabbri family, who explore high latitudes on board a small sailboat accompanied by his four children; These are some of the stories that most excited the public of SAIL Festival in the BK Room. The public enjoyed memorable moments like Alex Pella interviewing Loïck Peyron, Susie Goodall along with Don Mcityre or Vincent Lauriot-Prévost with Emmanuel Bachellerie talking about the Ultim Class.

Lalou Roucayrol, a navigator working together with Arkema, spoke about the new sustainable materials of boat manufacturing, a theme that aroused a lot of interest among the attendees, as the competition ships are built with these materials. Roger Frigola of Team New Zealand, Manolo Ruiz of Elvira, and José Luis Vela discussed the technology developed at the Copa América, as well as the opportunities and lines of work that will be opened in this field in the near future.

SAIL IN Festival presents its fifth edition, which will be held from 1 to 4 March in the BBK room in Bilbao, with more strength than ever, announcing the presence of great personalities from the world of the highest level sailing, such as François Gabart who has just pulverized the record of the return to the world by sailing alone with his MACIF trimaran in 42 days 16 hours 40 minutes and 35 seconds.

Another of the milestones of these days of sailing for the public is the SAIL IN Tribute, which is dedicated to the mythical Loïck Peyron, faithful representative of the best French school of ocean regatists, with an unsurpassed sports curriculum and charism that have made him an icon of the values of the sailing.

Thomas Simmons will present 'Coyote', in a rigorous premiere for Europe, a very personal film that tells the life of his uncle, the legendary Mike Plant, disappeared at sea.

The training-oriented proposals, the SAIL IN Class, which are held at the Museo Marítimo Ria in Bilbao, will have two interesting speakers this year. Luis Sáenz Mariscal, lawyer and navigator with 25 years of experience in America's Cup and one of the artists of the victory of the Emirates Team New Zealand in Bermuda 2017, and the naval architect Juan Kouyoumdjian, who will report his experience in the design of ships of ocean races.

SAIL IN Festival was born in 2014 as a necessary project to cover the absence of scenarios that spread the past, present and future of sailing in the broadest sense of the word and values that this discipline entails. A cross-sectional vision and a direct format that since the first edition convinced the great names of the national and international sailing, making them naturally ambassadors of this unique and pioneering initiative in the world.
