Arturo Delgado and her canary attack on the president of the Spanish de Vela
Conformism and resignation are not frequent attitudes among my social resources... to try by democratic means... by all available legal means... to conclude an attitude with which we ostensibly disagree, is most of the time an obligation as citizens of a modern society.
But another very different thing is permanent harassment and demolition, uncontrolled criticism and unmeasured attack. I have an admiration for Arturo Delgado, I am very fond and sorry for that damn vote in which he tied in an election to the Spanish de Vela, with another great friend such as Gerardo Pombo, who in his repetition, lost the teacher with the student by a single vote... it was expected that he would be in Arturo's staff, and even had my future office pointed out... I took one of the greatest and unexpected disappointments of my professional life that day, because it made me a great illusion to work side by side with him.
I say this, to make clear my personal affection for Arturo and my loyalty to his friendship... but the campaign he has initiated from the very first moment against the current president of the Royal Spanish Vela Federation is excessive and disproportionate. Those who know me know that my sympathies were next to Turró, whom I know many years ago from the Royal National Cruise Association and more recently for having organized for eight years the Campionat Interclubs de Catalunya, first with the sponsorship of a great customer of mine such as Teras Gauda, and after the hand of another affectionable friendship, such as that I maintain with Javier Celma and her insurance company Metromar, which has recently sold to Catalan FATC.
I do not have the pleasure to meet the president, yes to Chimo González Devesa, who is her right hand, of which I have publicly shown myself as a friend for many, many years. For this reason, I again provide evidence that they are neither biased nor capricious in my assessments.
When the Turkish-Casanueva election campaign began, I saw Arturo a little over-turned... with pressure totally out of place. When, by surprise, the lady of Santander won in good lid with a vast majority... the first thing I did was congratulate Chimo and put me at his full disposal... I think this is what is done in democracy, and Mrs. Casanueva won clean and democratically.
Delgado's reaction to me, which I obviously forgive and would forgive once and a thousand times, was semi-arraignment calling me something like balls and changing jackets.
Perhaps the canthabra is doing a debatable and debatable work, perhaps it is a serious mistake to take Spanish to a city as beautiful as it is miscommunicated as Santander... but not least this canary attack on the presidency.
Those who want the candle and do not play politicians, we are generally tired that instead of all together we fight for our sport, we waste time in cadmium battles. Please make love and not war!
