The Italian Marco Gradoni and the Spanish Maria Perelló have rejoined a podium behind the World Cup in Thailand. They have now done so in the XI Eurobarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy after the third day in which four tests have been completed in the gold group.

Gradoni has stepped in depth on the accelerator in this last day, marking four partial wins. This, together with the punches of the Swiss Maxime Thommen, has given him a total of 12 points, with an advantage of 17 over the Swiss, who has had a good start 2-5, but who later was not going to be fine with a 29 to end in the fourth test with a 10.

The absolute general was left by Maria Perelló (CN S'Arenal) who also made the triumph in females. Perelló has also shown strong, over in the first two tests, although then he signed a discreet partial 30 to conclude his participation in Torrevieja with a fifth place. The bullet ends with 44 points in the general.

The Portuguese Cavaco Guilherme has finished in the second square, while Yago Barca (RCN Sanxenxo) has been third. The first day of the 11th Eurobarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy was very hard for the fleet at 11: 00 a.m., the wind reached over 25 knots of constant intensity and rachas reaching 29. This situation forced the judges to start the tests with three hours of delay... despite which the picture was also very hard... nearing about 25 knots... a barbarity, which brought with it the one that only one single test was completed.

The Belgian Kwinten Borghijs has won in the yellow group, while the Dutch Jacobine Leemhuis has been second, followed by Irish Nathan Van Steenberge; the Polish Jacub Pietrzak in the fourth square and in the fifth square the Spanish Marina Gibert of the Cala Gamba Nautical Club.

In the blue group the Dutch Adriaan Ouwerkerk has been the first to take the line of arrival. The Spanish Yago Barco of the Royal Nautical Club of 0 Sanxenxo, best Spanish in this first day, and Joan Fiol de S'Arenal, have come after him. The fourth and fifth place has been for Irish Emily Riordan and Italian Marco Gradoni.

As far as the red fleet is concerned, Ties Wijbinga (Netherlands) has been the first on the arrival line. The 13th edition of the Eurobarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy is launched... a meeting that will conclude next Sunday and that has brought together 390 regatists from 23 countries in the city of Alicante, who will compete over three intense days.

As far as the fleet level is concerned, Torrevieja has the participation of the current World Champion: Maria Perellódel Club Náutico S'Arenal, a title she achieved in Thailand. On the same date was the Swiss Anja von Allmen, which concluded at the 12 female post, or the Danish Helena Wolff, one from behind.

In boys, there is also in Torrevieja the World Champion, the Italian Marco Gradoni, so both he and Perelló can revive those moments of celebration on the beach of Pattaya.

In addition, the Torreviejense meeting is also a good starting point for many national teams that will take part in the race, in the case of Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark, Argentina, Germany, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, the next seat of the European Optimist 2018, Norway or Poland, mainly.

The fleet has three days ahead of it in which a total of 9 tests are planned (no more than 3 tests per day). Complicated conditions, with the possibility of rain on the first day and on the last Sunday 28, wind from the north-east that can reach with great intensity and wave... the exit signal to the first test of the day has been established at 10 hours on the first day and 11 hours on the next two hours.
