The World Cup Series Miami has been the first Olympic sailing test of the 2018 season in which the focus of the international fleet is placed in the Aarhus World Championship, which will be held this summer and in which the first country squares for Tokyo 2020 will be at stake.

The Spanish pre-Olympic sailing team has won three medals and six crews have finished at the top 10 of the World Cup Series Miami. Diego Botín and Iago Ópez-Marra, with the subchampionship in the 49er class, have been the most prominent in the Spanish fleet. Federico and Arturo Alonso, also in 49er, and Blanca Manchón, in RS: X female, obtained the bronze medal. In the male tabals Ivan Pastor finished in fifth position. In addition, two national crews were able to finish up among the top ten in the female class 470: Silvia Más and Patricia Cantero were septiles and Bàrbara Cornudella and Sara López occupied the tenth position of the general.

Today, the Spanish Mas / Cantero and Cornudella / Lopez crews participated in the 470 female race medal, both without podium options. The gold medal was for the team formed by Tina Mrak and Veronika Macarol. Silvia Más and Patricia Cantero finished the final race of their class in the fifth position, closing the championship at position 7; Bàrbara Cornudella and Sara López were novies in the medal race and finished the World Cup Series Miami. Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra won the final race of the 49er class and were made with the silver medal followed on the podium by their fellow Federico and Arturo Alonso. 27 / 01 / 2018: Winds of 30 knots prevent the celebration of the fourth day of the World Cup in Miami

The wind has been the only protagonist of the fourth day of the World Cup Series Miami, with an average intensity of 27 knots and rachas of more than 35. The committee has kept the entire fleet on the ground until after 14: 30, Miami time, all the evidence has been cancelled and the day has been completed. The classification remains the same and tomorrow the classes 49er, 49er FX, Nacra 17 and RS: X male and female will fight the medal race while the rest of the classes will celebrate the last qualifying races.

In the 49er class the gold medal will be very contested by the first three classified. Lidera the fleet the British team Dylan Fletcher-Scott and Stuart Bithell, with 46 points. The Spanish Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra are in second position only three points from the English. In the third box of the podium, with 53 points, the Federico and Arturo Alonso brothers also run for gold in Miami.

White Manchón leaves as second classified female boards with 36 points, only three of the leader, Russian Stefania Elfutina. Behind Manchón, at a point in Spanish, is the Italian Flavia Tartaglini. The second day of the World Cup Series Miami has recorded an average wind of 10 knots from the north-east that has allowed all the planned tests to be disputed. The three Spanish teams of 470 women have taken advantage of the day to place themselves in the top ten of the class with the crews Cornudella / López and Mas / Cantero in second and third position respectively. It also highlights the performance of Ivan Pastor and Sergi Scandinell, third and fourth in RS: male X and White Manchón, fifth in female tables. In addition, Botín and Ópez- Marra are rooms in 49er.

The three Spanish crews of 470 women have completed the day among the ten best teams of their class. After completing three sleeves, and adding a total of five tests in two days, the team formed by Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra goes down to the fourth position of the 49er with 26 points, to four to go into podium. His companions, the Federico and Arturo Alonso brothers are now in eighth position with 35 net points.

In 470 male, Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodrigeuz still do not show if the best version and finish the day at 19. After four contested sleeves, the Catalan Galician team has two steps as the best partial results.

The Laser Radial has today debuted with Martina Reino at the head of the Spanish representation, holding place 13 of the general. His partner Cristina Pujo is at 28 in the class. In Laser Standard, Joel Rodríguez has finished the day in 26th position and Joaquín Rodriguez in 54th place.

In 470 male, also with only one test in the locker, Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez close the first day of the World Cup in Miami in the thirteenth position.

The little wind that blew in the last hour of the afternoon, in which the intensity fell to three knots, only allowed the dispute of a race for the female tables while the male RS: X were postponed on the ground. Blanca Manchón and Blanca Carracedo, completed the only test of the day at posts 26 and 27 respectively.

The World Cup Series Miami tests will start on Tuesday 23rd for all classes. The 49er, 49er FX, RS: X male and female and Nacra 17 will sail until Friday, completing a total of 10 tests, and will play a race medal on Saturday 27. From Tuesday to Saturday, with a total of 12 sleeves, the Laser Standard and Radial, Finn and 470 male and female with the medal race scheduled for Sunday 28.
