The El Balís Nautical Club has reached the number of 350 registered in the absence of just over a month for the Finn 2018 World Master's World, to be held from 18 to 25 May in the waters of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres. The event will bring together veteran athletes of twenty nationalities and will have the participation of the great world figures of the class, such as the current winner of the competition, Russian Vladimir Krutskikh, or the canary José Luis Doreeste, Olympic and European gold in 1988, and world gold in 1987.

The Nàutic El Balís Club has over 100 registered for the Finn 2018 World Master's World, to be held from 18 to 25 May in the waters of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres. Up to 110 regatists from all over the world have registered today in the competition, where more than 400 athletes are expected to participate in the Master, Grand Master, Grand Master, Legend and Super Legend classes, with competitors over the age of 80.

Twenty nationalities

Four months before the light sailing competition there are already confirmed regatists of 19 different nationalities. On the European side, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden and Ukraine will be represented. In turn, America will have participants from the Bahamas, Brazil, Chile and the United States, while completing the list Australia and New Zealand of Oceania.

The best regatists of discipline

The 2018 Finn Master World will bring together the best regatists in the world of this discipline, including the current champion, Russian Vladimir Krutskikh, who won gold in 2017 and also in 2015, and Olympic in Sidney 2000. It will also highlight the presence of the canary José Luis Doreeste, who takes up the races after retiring and is remembered for proclaiming Olympic gold in Seoul 1988, in addition to the first European ranking in the same year and world champion in 1987.

Other athletes who will compete in Catalonia will be the French Laurent Hay, finalist of last year's edition; the British Allen Burrell, silver in the 2012 and 2011 World Cup; the Swiss Piet Eckert, world-class fourth in 2017 and Olympic in Barcelona 1992; the Dutch Thierry van Vierssen, sixth in the 2016 World Cup; and the Swiss Christoph Burger, who finished seventh in the last season's test.

A first order window for the Maresme

In the coming weeks, the list of registered persons will be growing for a test that will mean a first-order window for the Maresme. Not only in the sports field, but also in the social and economic areas, with the organization of cultural and festive activities during the event. The international competition is also estimated to have an economic impact on the territory of 1,250,000 euros.
