The Danish regatist Malthe Ebdrup has revalidated his title as champion of the 67 Ciutat Trophy of Palma Bufete Frau after the Regatas Committee decided this morning to suspend the last day of competition due to the adverse weather conditions. Manu Fraga, sports director of the Real Club Náutico de Palma and the race, explained that the island of Mallorca is on temporary alert and the wind in the race field first thing in the morning was 24 knots, with a forecast to reef.

Ebdrup, a representative of the Royal Danish Yacht Club, sailed the two days of competition in the head of the fleet. He won two of the five sleeves in the Optimist class and his worst result was a fifth. The Spanish athletes had a very outstanding performance, with seven classified in the 'top ten': the Mallorquins Pau Mequida (3), María Perelló (4), Nacho Baltasar (6), Neus Ballester (7) and Andrea Perelló (10), the Andalusian Manuel Álvarez Dardet (5) and the canary Javier Ojeda (9). It should not be forgotten that in the Ciutat de Palma almost 378 ships from 14 countries were cited, 277 of which competed in Optimist.

In the rest of the classes, the winners were far superior to their rivals. The crew formed by Jorge Martínez Doreeste (CN Vilanova) and Clara Llabrés (CN Arenal) sealed a win without contemplations on Saturday in 420. He won the six sleeves of the 67 Ciutat Trophy of Palma Bufete Frau and from the first board it was seen that his triumph was not at risk. Xisco Comas and Toni Baltasar (Club Náutic Sa Ràpita) managed to be second in the last day, after overcoming Sion Rosselló and Pedro Robert (Real Club Náutico de Palma).

The Menorquin Pere Ponsetí (CN Ciutadella) also left his victory in the Laser Radial class on the second day, which would be the final. It was sold in five of the six contested races. The regatist of the Club de Vela Port d'Andratx Aina Bauzá was second, followed quite a distance by his club partner Philip Marcus Parry.

In Laser 4.7, Ignasi Torrandell (Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença) broke into the lead when a partial of two first and one second were marked on Saturday, and a black flag of the first day was discarded. Marc Goma, from the same club, and Thomas Astcroft (Real Club Nautico de Palma), in this order, completed the podium.

The Snipe class joined the 67 Ciutat fleet of Palma Bufete Frau yesterday. Víctor Pérez y Dries Crombe (Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa) won the three sleeves of the day. Pablo Balaguer and Alfonso Comas, also from Can Pastilla's club, were second, followed by the boat manned by Hugo Ramón and Natalia Díaz (RCN Palma), who obtained bronze.

09 / 12 / 2017: The Danish Malthe Ebdrup favorite in the 67 Ciutat Trophy of Palma Bufete Frau

The Danish regatist Malthe Ebdrup was today placed at the forefront of the general ranking of the 67 Ciutat Trophy of Palma Bufete Frau in the Optimist class and tomorrow could become one of the few participants who have managed to lift the silver carabela (absolute prize) twice in a row throughout the history of the competition. The young athlete of the Royal Danish Yacht Club, who has been training in Mallorca for weeks, got a fourth and a first in the two sleeves today and took two points off the next ranked Swiss Maxime Thompson, who today was awarded a test and was sixth in the other.

The Mallorcan Pau Mequida (Club Nàutic S'Arenal), with two partial wins over a total of five races, occupies the third position, tied to points with the second. A black flag at the fifth exit of the day prevented him from dismissing another result and leading the general. His club partner, María Perelló, a current world champion and leader after the first day, did not have a good day and fell to the fourth square.

The Optimist, which compete divided into six groups, were able to do two tests today and were about to start a third, but the Regatas Committee chose to send them to port at 1515 hours, when the wind began to aminate and to be unstable. The rest of the classes (420, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial and Snipe) finished three sleeves. The exit to the sea was given at 0930 hours and just an hour later the first exit was given with the wind of the NO, but a strong roll forced the test to be suspended. We had to wait for the wind to start at 60 degrees (NE), as the parties announced. From there, the day took place with the normality of the days in which the earth blows, with slight variations in direction.

The crew formed by Jorge Martínez Doreeste (CN Vilanova) and Clara Llabrés (CN Arenal) sealed their victory in the 67 Ciutat Trophy of Palma Bufete Frau in class 420 in the absence of a day. His performance was once again impeccable and he added six wins in so many other trials. Xisco Comas and Toni Baltasar (Club Náutic Sa Ràpita) succeeded in second position after overcoming Sion Rosselló and Pedro Robert (Real Club Nautico de Palma). A single point separates both teams, who, once the triumph is decided, will fight for silver tomorrow.

The Pere Ponsetí (CN Ciutadella) also left his victory in the Laser Radial class. It has won five of the six contested races and has been second in the remaining one, a record that offers no room for doubt about its superiority. The regatist of the Club de Vela Port d'Andratx Aina Bauzá retained the second place after today obtaining a partial of three seconds. At a distance, in third position, is his club partner Philip Marcus Parry.

In Laser 4.7, Ignasi Torrandell (Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença) broke into the lead by marking a partial of two first and one second, and dismissing a black flag from the first day. Although he himself admitted that his exits were not good, he managed to print a lot of speed on his ship and remount several rivals. Marc Goma, from the same club, and Thomas Astcroft (Real Club Nautico de Palma), both with 17 points, aspire to second place.

The Snipe class today joined the 67 Ciutat fleet of Palma Bufete Frau, which was extended to 378 ships (428 regatists) from 14 countries. Víctor Pérez y Dries Crombe (Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa) won the three sleeves of the day and beat in five points the crew formed by Pablo Balaguer and Alfonso Comas, also from the Can Pascilla club, and in six to the boat manned by Hugo Ramón and Natalia Díaz.

08 / 12 / 2017: Beautiful day of the opening of the Ciutat de Pama Brufete Frau de Vela Ligera

The first day of the 67 Ciutat Trophy of Palma Bufete Frau took place as announced, as the wind blew generous throughout the day, causing the 277 Optimist in competition to complete the planned three-test program and return to port at three in the afternoon.

The current World Champion of Optimist, María Perelló of the Nàutic S'Arenal Club, who left as the fourth favorite in the race's ranking, took advantage of the excellent conditions that the bay of Palma offered today to place itself in the head of the general with an unappealable partial of two seconds and a victory. The Majorcan faces the second day with two points of advantage over its team partner, Pau Mesquida. The Danish Malthe Ebdrup, winner of last year's Ciutat Trophy in Palma, is third to a point of his predecessor.

The Spanish regatists hold most of the top ten positions. In addition to Perelló and Mesquida, the canary Javier Ojeda (seventh), the Andalusian Manuel Álvarez Dardet (eighth), the Majorcan Neus Ballester (ninth) and the Iberian Quidel Villalba (tenth) sail in the vanguard of the fleet, in which 14 countries are represented.

The crew formed Jorge Martínez Doreeste (Club Nàutic Vilanova) and Clara Llabrés (Club Nàutic S'Arenal) exercised an absolute domain in class 420. He was in the three trials of the day and much would have to be twisted so that next Sunday the final victory of the 67 Ciutat Trophy of Palma would not be awarded. Melsion Rosselló and Pedro Robert (Real Club Náutico de Palma) completed a partial of two seconds and a fifth, and they hang seconds, tied to nine points with Blanca Fernández and Mar Fuster, also from the RCNP.

In class Laser 4.7 also competes a non-rival regatist. Jaime Cabot (Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa) marked three first and put water in between with respect to Max Dols (RCNP), which ended the day with two sexts and one second, that is, with 14 points, 11 more than the leader and two less than the third classified, Martí Ribas (Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença). In Laser Radial, the Pere Ponsetí (Club Nàutic Ciutadella) was imposed on the first two sleeves and was second in the third. Despite this outstanding performance, its advantage over Aina Bauza (Port d'Andratx Sailing Club) is only two points. Marcos Plomer, Bauzà's club partner, holds the third place in the General with eight points.
