Return to the Mount Real Yacht Club of Baiona 18 years are many years

It is December 1979, the fishing company of which it was then its manager in Cadiz rents to the Pescanova of Don José Fernández López its two freezers... are hard times... with that unstable government of UCD presided over by the good of Adolfo Suárez... are times when the central right is very scattering to the left to preserve power... are for fishing times convulsed with the havens in Moroccan waters, the expulsion of the American waters of Boston, the uncertain beginning of the fisheries of the Malvinas or the mixed societies...

In the midst of all this economic hardship with an inflation that exceeds 15% year after year!, to put it simply and clearly I am out of work. A good friend of the historical member of the Communist Party is appointed mayor of San Fernando by the Socialist Party of Andalusia, and offers me to be the Council of Cleaning of the populous city of Gaditana... at the same time a great Galician who was not pleased to meet... Alfonso Paz Andrade sends me a letter and tells me that I have a job in a fishing industry abroad in Pescanova... he tells me about Mozambique, he tells me about Ireland...

We are already in the middle of Christmas of the far-off year 1979 when Don Alfonso takes a 180º turn... "I'm going to propose you as manager of the Mount Real International Yacht Club of Baiona, club of which I am its vice president"You know what I'm talking about? "no idea"... the candle is the only sport or one of the little ones I have not practiced... in a week the great Rafael Olmedo gives me his trust and his friendship... having the audacity to appoint me his commander in chief, when he had no qualification to handle a little fishing vapor...

My beginnings are very hard: problems with staff very accustomed to not having a boss in condition, economic problems with no movement of partners, no sponsors, we have significant debts coming from that Bermuda Bayona Regata of 1972 and the World Cup of 1978...

In my apparent solitude I have the support of others of the great, such as Jesus Valverde Viñas, José de la Gandara... the directive clears me up and we end up being friends in a very short time, as if we all knew each other... It's been a year and a lot of people already want to be a partner of the vibrant club... Mount Real returns to its old prestige and among all under Rafael Olmedo's baton we get to start being the fashion club.

In Baiona the Regata Vuelta is born to Spain, in Baiona the most significant of what can be cooked in those years... then comes the Regata de las Autonomy, the National Sailing Awards, the General Optica Regata, the Open of Spain, the Week of Baiona, the Trophy Prince of Asturias...

We are an extensive team of collaborators over the years in which we struggle to be the number one. Golden years of sponsorship, of great patterns such as Campos, Gandara, Lastra... the Royal Mount has become the "Chief" As Fernando García Tobío would say... We managed to generate the first challenge in the history of the Spanish candle for America's cup!... we organize several extraordinary level class worlds... for their part Manuel Fernández & Charo Andrade, with the support of Francisco Quiroga and Javier de la Gandara "Pescanova" on the World Round with a crew full of Gallegos: bronze is the prize...

In full success at the beginning of 1999 for reasons that do not come to the story of this story I sign by the club that since I met him I have carried within my heart: the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club.

The love of the Royal Mount towards me, turns into discomfort and to cross me into something similar to being a "traitor..." c'est la vie... are years and years of distance, in which nostalgia and strangness for the situation invade me... are years in which despite having left half a life among those millennia walls, I am not adequately treated...

But time cures everything and this year I have returned to Mount Real normally after a prolonged absence in time of 18 years!, to organize the events that put the end and end of the 2017 Abanca Week... I was kind of curious how it would be received by the staff who still work there, how it would feel to see the facilities again, what my emotions would be...

To my surprise none of these fears or doubts occurred, simply because my Royal Mount no longer exists. My Monte Real was a fantastic club with a huge, great president like Rafael Olmedo. My Royal Mount was that of Father Jesus, Joseph of the Gandara or Solano. My Royal Mount was that of Pérez, Mario, Lijó, Enrique, Mosquera, Florita, Almudena, Duarte, Liébanas, Angel, Florentino, Miguelito... and almost none of them are here. My Royal Mount was that of Olmedo, Paz Andrade, Jacobo, Piñeiro, Estanis, Carlos Soto, Tobío, Mandado... and almost no one I could see. My Royal Mount is still beautiful, well-cared, with magnificent professionals who try to do the best they can and professed a great love to me... but my Royal Mount went on to another dimension many years ago... the memory remains unbeatable in my soul... but it is simply a memory, that is precious and consumptive with my being.
