The Abra Maritime will organize in Getxo waters in 2019 the World Class J80
The J80 International Class has revealed the headquarters of the 2019 World Championship organization. It will be in the waters of the Abra and will be in the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club. The Vizcadino club, with a more than centenary history since the foundation of the Sporting in 1898, thus has a long history in the organization of races with an always very complete annual calendar and a consolidated fleet, both of cruise and J80 and light candle. It will be the third edition in which a World Cup of the participatory and competitive class J80 is held in Spanish waters, with the Royal Maritime Club of Santander in 2009 and the Nautical Club of Bevelle (Sotogrande) in 2016 as predecessors in the organization of the world title in these monotypes. Before, the Real Club Marítimo del Abra - Real Sporting Club will host the Spanish Cup J80 in June.
A centenary club for an international class.
The club of the town getxotarra always has in the waters of the Abra with a complete and more than active calendar of races throughout the year, being a reference for the cruises, J80 and light candle in the Cantabric. The fleet of the J80 in Bilbao has as reference units such as that of the shipowner José Azqueta ('Biobizz'), present in the most important quotes of the national calendar of the class J80. They are also members of this fleet the 'Mandovi' of Ramón Zubiaga, the 'Fin Gol Fin' of Gonzalo-varri, the 'Alpega' of Alfonso Churruca, the 'Jet Set' of Ibon Basañez, the 'Pilgrim' of José Luis Ribed, the 'Freus' of Christian Jauregui, the 'Kresala' of Ander Etxabe, the 'Obelix' of Pablo Gomeza or the 'Montarto' of Ignacio Real of Asúa.
In the face of the great challenge of the organization of a World Championship such as that of the J80 class, which always has almost a hundred registered of this always competitive category of races, the organization of this World Cup has some factors that have brought the balance to its favor when it comes to awarding to the R.C.M.A.-R.S.C. the world-wide proposal: its excellent field of races in the waters of the Abra, the logistical facilities to travel from abroad and the always welcome reception provided by the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club.
