The Royal Nautical Club of Calpe has managed to revalidate the title of champion in the XXII League of Match Race of the Valencia Community, after a second and final day that has been marked by good wind conditions and equality between the crews.

The end to the best of three was to have Calpe 1 and Torrevieja as protagonists. The first of them after winning Valencia, Calpe 2, Altea, La Vila and Culera, while the Torreviejenses concluded the first round of robin with five wins: Calpe 1, Valencia, Altea, La Vila and Culera. For the third and fourth place, at one meeting, Calpe 2 and Altea were to be measured, with the Altean team's triumph.

Calpe 1 and Torrevieja offered a great show in the final, with very tacitly contested races. Torrevieja, in the first match, achieved in barlovento a penalty to those of Calpe, and although everything pointed to a clear triumph of Torrevieja, the strategy of the calpino boys led by Riky Stadel made that in the second dyed they could exonerate and keep the team of Torrevieja at bay and score the first triumph of the final.

In the second duel, it was those of Calpe who 'gave' a penalty to those of Torrevieja just to leave. That, plus a failure of manoeuvre from the Torrevieja on arrival to barlovento was going to cost them the race and the title. Calpe did not take off from the stern of the Torrevieja ship, transferred and intelligent maneuver from Calpe propitiated a few meters from the arrival another penalty to Torrevieja and goodbye. The house sailed free for the second win, victory and resale of the Match Race League of the Valencia Community.

25 / 11 / 2017: The lack of wind shows the end of the Valencian League of Match Race

The final of the Match Race League of the Federation of Vela de la Comunitat Valenciana, a race organized jointly with the Real Club Náutico de Calpe, held this weekend, has not had a good debut. The wind has played against, completely conditioned the planned program and it was only to be able to close the day with four 'flight' (series of meetings) but... It's closed with one and there's been no more.

At the time scheduled to go out into the water, the seven crews have remained on the ground waiting for a wind that did not reach Calpe Bay. At about 2.30 p.m. a slight breeze made it possible to have a chance to dispute some meeting, and it has been. At 3 p.m. the first duel of the day and the end of the league with the debutante CN Cullera, with Carlos Campanario as the patron, and the RCN of Valencia, the latter has not had too much trouble to note the first triumph of the hand of Mario Fernández.

Nor have the Torrevieja RCN, led by Hector Dominguez, and RCN Calpe 2, had much trouble winning their clashes with Elsa Schleissner, although the Torreviejans have had to 'squeeze' something else to impose on the children of the Altea CN, with Pedro Llorca of pattern. Schleissner's boys, for their part, have won in almost all the stages of the 'match' to the other debutante: CN La Vila, with Joaquín Pérez to the cace.E

On these two days, the organizing committee is planning a 'round robin' (leguilla) in which they will all face each other in a series of 'flight' (meetings). It is planned, if the weather and technical conditions allow, to complete 5 flight on the Saturday day, to close on Sunday the two remaining and give way to semi-finals and final, so with a meeting for the third and fourth square.

The ship is again one of the most competitive and best for match race discipline (boat to boat) as is Tom 28. Unless you change the top start for the first match on Saturday day has been set at 11: 30, while Sunday will be at 11: 00. As for the delivery of trophies, the organizing committee is scheduled for the ceremony at around 5: 00.
