The 11th Hour Racing has signed Roberto 'Chuny' Bermudez de Castro for Stage 2 of the Volvo Ocean Race. The Galician regatist already has six editions of Volvo Ocean Race behind his back, including a win in the last edition of 2014-15 with the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing. Chuny will replace Phil Harmer, who is still recovering from a back injury.

In a statement made public by the team led by Charlie Enright, the boss states: "The experience of the Volvo Ocean Race of Chuny is exceptional. From the beginning we said we wanted to be surrounded by good people and have a team with more experience. It was great that Damian could jump on the last stretch and will continue to be one of our spare regatists along with other ground responsibilities, including our Sustainability Manager."

"Choosing to bring Chuny was a long-term decision to add more depth to the program and keep our crew fresh," said Mark Towill, Team Manager. "There are still 45,000 miles to go, and we know that we will need to achieve maximum performance during the next ten stages."

For his part, the Galician regatist recognizes his happiness for his registration. "It was great to get the call from Charlie and Mark. I love this race, and I'm glad to be part of it again with such a working group."said Chuny, who had already been part of the AkzoNobel team this year, but who reached an agreement to leave the team two months ago.
