Representatives of more than twenty European nautical clubs and associations will participate from this Friday until Sunday in Baiona in the Galicia, Atlantic Destination, a congress that aims to make known the potential of the Galician community to attract such visitors.

Organized by Galicia Tourism, Portos de Galicia and the Monte Real Club de Yates with the collaboration of the Concello de Baiona, the event will include conferences, talks, round tables and workshops at the Parador Nacional de Baiona, and a tour of different Ria points in Arousa.

The Galicia, Atlantic Destination is the first European nautical tourism congress to be held in the country and will address the current situation of a sector that has experienced significant growth in recent years and that in 2017 has already generated a turnover of about 2 million euros.

The Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, qualified the event as "a great opportunity to position the Galician community as a European reference in nautical tourism." In this sense he recalled the commitment to achieve excellence by the professionals of the nautical sector in Galicia, as attested by the fact that, out of every 10 Náutico-sports facilities with the Q of Quality that exist in Spain, six are in Galicia.

The Galicia, Atlantic Destination will start next Friday at 10: 00 in the morning at the National Parador of Baiona with the official opening of the congress by the authorities. A half-hour later, the first round table, entitled "Galicia and nautical tourism," will be held; and from noon on, "Water tourism development projects." In the afternoon will be the turn of the workshops and group working sessions; and on Saturday the activity will move to the river of Arousa, where a tourist tour is scheduled. Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom are some of the countries of origin of the 22 clubs and associations that will participate in the event.
