Manuel Rodríguez recontrols Rodman's entire stock
In the early days of September, the patron ASIME (Association of Metallurgical Industries of Galicia) echoed the information in Faro de Vigo, that China Sonagol International, the Singapore-based multinational, left the group of Vigues Rodman after more than two years in the shareholder. In this operation that was signed on August 31, the founder of Rodman Manuel Rodríguez recovered the 60 percent majority package in the hands of the Asian group... however this great news for the Spanish naval has not materialized documented until this Friday, when this sale of shares has been officially registered in the Pontevedra Business Register. In this way Manuel Rodríguez through the property society Abada has again become the only owner of the Rodman Group shipyards. The figures for the operation have not been disclosed, but there is talk of a figure in the around EUR 80 million.
China Sonangol had acquired 60% of MetalShips and the Valença de Rodman plant (Lusitania) and the development logistics platform Quinta Suevia (500,000 square metres) in different stages, also in this Portuguese municipality. In July last year, Rodman already reclaimed the assets on the ground to strengthen the business of the subsidiary Rodman Polyships (in which China Sonangol never took part), and this week he did the same with MetalShips, a subsidiary of steel of Rodman. From the sector, the operation has been seen as positive as the group is again in Galician hands with a long experience in shipbuilding, which will have an impact on greater tranquility for both potential shipowners and creditor banks. MetalShips & Ducks currently has a 79-meter-long trawler in its portfolio and more than EUR 50 million for a major Greenlandic shipowner, from which half of the ship's hull was built, and which guarantees a workload for about two years. In polyester (Polyshipes), the Meira factory (Moaña) currently works on several orders, among catamarans and high-speed patrols of different slurs and shipowners such as the Sultanate of Oman, as this newspaper advanced.
