Presented by the Cantabra School of Surf and punctuable for the FESurfing Cup of SUP Waves of the Spanish Federation of Surf, the event took place on October 14 and 15 with the following categories: Open male and female, Mixed Inflatables, Wave, Mixed Longsup, Race Sup Surfing, Mixed Junior (under 18) and Mixed Children (under 14).

During the first day of competition all the categories except the Open were held, reserved for the day of Sunday where spectacular conditions were predicted. And so it was, the second day of competition dawned with great and powerful waves. The men's Open Round 1 participants were the first to enter the water. They had to correctly select the waves to surf and risk in each of them. The heat was also a protagonist and the quality of the waves improved greatly as hours passed.

The semifinals were the most exciting of the day, with high scores for the participants and where it was necessary to wait until the last moment to know who spent the different sleeves. The final saw 3 Spaniards and 1 French, where the Basque Ohian Aizpuru rose with the victory ahead of the cantabre Oscar Ruíz, the French Clement Roseyro and the Galician Guillermo Carracedo. Great victory by one of the Riders of the National Stand Up Paddle Team. To highlight also the performance of young Iñigo Gandara and his Andalusian partner Fernando Pérez, who managed to reach the quarter finals fighting together with the favorites of Europe.

The women's Open category was no less than the previous one, where the girls worked to the maximum in front of the waves of Somo. The Canaria Iballa Ruano would win again at this event, showing why it is the best in Europe in SUP Olas. The Basque Alazne Aurrekoetxea, Marina Loayza and Beatriz Piñal would follow. This category has also had a great increase in the level of its participants compared to other years and very crowded by the audience.

The 2017 FESurfing Cup of SUP Olas moves to Fuerteventura to fight the last of the 2017 season's spot tests with the Onexe SUP Challenge between November 17 and 19.
