The absolute podium in the Marítimo de Santander, club that has hosted the national test since last Friday and concluded yesterday, has been closed with another crew of the Nautico de Gran Canaria, formed by Andrés Barrio and Néstor Domingo and by the Catalan of the Nautico Cambrils, Alicia Fras and María González
The Royal Maritime Club of Santander this past weekend, from 13 to 15 October, has hosted the 29th Spanish Cup. An edition that has been marked by the high participation with a total of 21 registered ships, from Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Catalonia, Comunitat Valenciana and Cantabria. Another of the notes highlighted in the meeting was the good weather conditions, in general terms, which allowed the program of 12 tests to be completed during the three days of competition. The other was the equality and the very high level of the fleet, in which the podium squares were decided on the last day and last race. The equality was reflected in the end, with two crews of the RCN Gran Canaria in the highest podium, with Yoel Hernández and Joaquín Cantero (SUB19) and Andrés Barrio and Néstor Domingo (SUB19). Both ended up tied to 21 points after 2 discards were applied. The best partials of Hernandez and Cantero had the balance decanted in their favor.
In females there was also a lot of equality, although in the end it was the Catalan ones of the nautical Cambrils, Alicia Fras and María González (SUB19F), which printed a higher rhythm with respect to the Canaries Paula and Elena Barrio (SUB19F), of the RCN Gran Canaria, and with this they secured bronze with 23 points. Fras and González were also awarded the title in female. The fourth square was for the Barrio sisters after adding 39 points, the same as the local Alba Salmon and Claudia Carpenter (RCM Santander). The top ten was closed with Quique Urios (Quicorras) and Filippo Binetti (RCN Valencia), with 61 points. It should be noted that they were both the youngest crew on the Santanderin date. The seventh and eighth square, respectively, was for two crews of the Maritime Santander with Elena de las Matas and Sofia Izquierdo (63) and David Madrazo and Pablo Fernández (85). The classification with the top 10 was closed with Arnau Gelpi (another of the youngest in Santander) and Charly Barth (CN El Balís), with 92, the same as the women María Sánchez and Lucía González (RCM Santander).
