Spanish Communiqué on the suspension of Laser in Barcelona

The Royal Spanish Vela Federation has issued this official statement that from NAUTICA DIGITAL we see timely and in line with reality... so we convey our congratulations to the presidency of the institution
The Royal Spanish Vela Federation does not share the decision to suspend the first day of the European Laser Championship, which was to be held from today until next Sunday, October 8, in Barcelona.
The competition's Regatas Committee has decided unilaterally and without prior notice to support the widespread unemployment that takes place today, Tuesday, October 3, in Catalonia. The suspension of the day has been communicated to the fleet by the reading of a manifest by the Chief Officer, Mr Jofre Rabadà.
The organization of the event has reported the impossibility of performing the race due to lack of means, as reported by the Catalan Vela Federation. This situation has left the more than 300 athletes from 58 countries who have moved to Spain on the ground to compete in a high-level European test.
In his address, Mr Rabadà has given a number of reasons not to celebrate the day's races that the Royal Spanish Federation of Vela does not share at all. Sport, in the view of this Federation, should not serve as a window for politics.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 4, except for last-minute changes, the organization intends to take over the European Championship, which today should have held the first two qualifying sleeves.
