Spectacular growth of the charter market in Spain according to ANEN: more than 25 points!

From January to September 2017, 4732 vessels were registered in Spain compared to 4332 in the same period in 2017, an increase of 9.23%. Of the total number of registered vessels, 1475 are intended for rental use (31%), a market that has grown in this period by 25% compared to last year, reflecting that the nautical charter continues to rise among the options chosen by the fans to enjoy the leisure navigation.
These are the data collected in the Report on the market for recreational craft (energy-September 2017), edited by ANEN on the basis of information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
They grow all the length. The ships up to 8 meters grow by 6.6%, enrolling 4167 ships, compared to 3910 registered in the same period of 2016. It remains the most demanded segment of ships in Spain (88.1% of the nautical market).
The length between 8 and 12 meters is 28.9%, with 348 enrolments compared to 270 last year. The ships between 12 and 16 meters grow by 34.2%, with 153 enrollments over 114 registered in the same period of 2016. The ships over 16 meters are the ones that continue to grow most prominently, 68.4% in this period in which they record 64 enrollments compared to 38 registered between January and September 2016.
By type of boat, motor ships grow by 11.4%, with 2118 new records compared to 1901 last year (until September), and with the highest market share (44.8%). The water bikes experience the highest growth, 12%, enrolling 1,084 units, out of the 968 registered in the same period of 2016. The folding pneumatic vessels continue to decline, and fall by -3.7%, while the semi-rigid vessels grow by 9.6%. The positive candle also has a growth of 6.2%, enrolling 275 units compared to 259 units recorded between January and September 2016.
The rental market has a 25% growth in recreational boat registration. From January to September 2017, 1475 recreational boats have been registered for rent, compared to 1180 in the same period last year.
The length up to 8 meters, the most demands also in the rental market (83.6%), are growing by 20.15%. The rent of ships over 12 meters in length is the most growing, between 12 and 16 meters by 102.8% and from 16 meters have been registered for rent 93.8% of ships that between January and September 2016. By type of boat, motor ships are the most growing in enrollments (40.7%) for rental use.
Catalonia with 23.22% share, occupies the first position of the national nautical market and has a growth of 16.8%. Balearic Islands second (16.48% of the market) has a 6.56% growth in enrolment. Andalusia is in third position per market share (16.33%) and has a decrease of -8.52% of its enrolments in the period under review. The rental market is also led by Catalonia with a share of 24.81%, followed by the Balearic Islands which represents 24.68%. Thirdly, the Valencia Community is located, which accounts for 17.22% of the charter market between January and September of this year.
