Two hundred Regatists in the Artea Trophy - José Luis de Ugarte

The Arteo Trophy - School of Sailing José Luis de Ugarte celebrates its twenty-seventh edition this weekend in the waters of the Abra de Vizcaya... two hundred young regatists will be in competition in one of the most traditional light sailing races in the candle of the Cantabric... in line of exit ships of the optimist classes, laser 4.7, standard laser, radial laser, snipe, feva, 420 and l'Equipe. The participation will cover young Basque, Cantabre, Galician, Asturian and French... the indispensable appointment is organized by the Spanish nautical cathedral, by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club, and given the sponsorship of the Artea Shopping Centre

The best of six sleeves in the different classes, with three tours in each day, will take place in two fields of race in which the competition takes place, both formed by Olympic triangles. In the race field of the Inner Abra, the pptimist and l'Equipe classes will compete... in the race field of the outside Abra sail the sailing boats of the remaining classes. By Saturday the start of the sleeves will be at 1: 00 in the afternoon, while on Sunday it will start at 12: 00.

The main objective of this Arte- Escuela de Vela Ligera José Luis de Ugarte, since its creation, is both competitive and educational. It is a first contact with the competition for many young regatists, while the most experienced are allowed to measure with athletes from other communities. "The young regatists have a lot of passion for the sea and discover it through our School of Sailing. All participants enjoy the learning they have developed in this special race. Every September this Trophy is a party of our sport in the waters of the Abra. This quote is well known in the world of sailing and is more than consolidated in its 27 years of history, forming and also educating in values the regatists that will represent us in the future" explains Eduardo García Santamarina, director of race.

In the last edition of 2016, in the best class, the most popular, Ander Sánchez, of the Nautical Club of Vitoria, was defeated, tied to 4 points with the representative of the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club Juan Olábarri... the Alavés won for his first place on the second tour... in the third square was classified Tanis Rey-Baltar. On the other hand, the cantabre Guillermo Hidalgo won in optimist B. In the L'Equipe class, the Cantabros Luis Beltrán and Hugo Castanedo were defeated; in the 420 class the gold was for the couple of the Maritimo formed by Alejandro Gallego and Marta Aguirre; in the Snipe, Amadeo Torrens and María Alonso were also made of Las Arenas with three first positions; and also their companions from Club Andoni Lejarraga and Íñigo Lejarraga in the FEVA class were noted the triumph. The santanderino Jaime Salcines, on his side, was imposed on laser 4.7 and the viscine Manolo Rey Baltar on laser Radial.
