The 2017 SUP-River Spanish Championship took place, taking place in a section of the Genil River, between the towns of Cuevas Bajas in the province of Málaga and Benameji in the province of Córdoba... the test consisted of descending in Stand UP Paddel along the river, with rapids up to class III, on a scale of 1 to 5.

On Friday in the slalom test the participants showed their skill and speed to perform a technical circuit with passing doors and lifts. The speed and perfection in the execution of each step were the keys to gaining maximum possible points. Jose Juan Rumbeau, Jose Martos and Antonio de la Rosa in the male category made the best times. In the female category, Carolina Seth-Smith, Maria Moreno and Lola Palenque raised the level of previous years by improving all times.

On Saturday the descent test was quite disputed. Antonio de la Rosa, currently turning the Iberian peninsula to Stand UP Paddle's table, made a point to go to this unique test among all of the Esaporola Federation of Surf. Its beginning was fast, along with Jose Juan Rumbeu closely, advancing each other at different points of the downfall. Finally a crunch of Rumbeu keel and a bad support in one of the rapids led to the escape of a few meters from Antonio that would keep this constant separation until its arrival. The final times for the descent test during the course of almost 17 km were 1h25min for Antonio de la Rosa and 1h26min for Jose Juan Rumbeau, followed by Jose Martos with 1h36min.

The female open category in the descent test was dominated by Carolina Seth-Smith, obtaining a time of 1h38 min to complete the tour, followed by María Moreno (1h42min) and Lola Palenque. The descent test also took on a popular category, in which Amador García stood first among the boys, and María José Lopera was third among the girls. Both, native to Iznájar, also premiered in this competition as partners of the Andalucia Trainer Sports Club.
