The presentation was chaired by the Mayor of Vigo Abel Caballero, and was attended by the delegate of the Xunta of Galicia Ignacio López Chaves, as well as representatives of the organizing clubs and the numerous companies and institutions that have been collaborating, some for almost two decades, in this monumental event that practices the "total nautical" and is the only such characteristic in our waters (Photo Miguel Riopa)

The 2017 Abanca Week was presented in Vigo, which over two months will bring together two thousand sailing, rowing and piragüism athletes who will compete in the waters of Galicia, Asturias and northern Portugal. The first event of the Coca Cola Vigo Series organized by the Club Marítimo de Canido next weekend for sailing classes 420, laser and vaien; and the last Ibernática with two Nautic Days of Sustainable Tourism that will take place in the Parador de Baiona and that have as a colophone the Lexus Breogán Cup, that recovers the counter-clock mode.

The Abanca Week has juvenile, junior and senior light sailing tests: the aforementioned Canido regatta, as well as the Extreme Laser Gadis that organizes the Bouzas Maritime Licensing. Also in light sailing but in child and cadet categories, two events are held that make up the Kinder Trophy: one of the waters of Leixóes, in the Gran Porto and the other on the Asturian coast organized by the Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón.

This year's Pyragüism breaks into the Abanca Week by the Olívico Piragüismo Club with the Kayak de Mar Galicia Cup, where the base categories (children and cadets) will compete in both K1 and K2, and within them the male and female crews.

The heavy sail has three dates: the first in the Ria de Vigo with the Trophy Villa de Bouzas- Navionics that will have the participation of the best ships, case of the "Pairo 8" or "Oils Abril"; the second in the beautiful Rías of Sada and Ares, with organization of the Nautical Club of Sada. It will be the Regata Terras Gauda-Carris Hotels that in 2016 beat record of participation in an ORC cruise test in the northern part of Galicia. Complete the cruise races the mentioned Lexus Breogán Cup of Mount Real Yacht Club of Baiona.

The rowing has extensive programming in the river of Pontevedra, where there will be over two weeks, school competitions of ergometer rowing, as well as the Galicia de Bateles- Concello de Marín and the Galicia de Remo Olimpico - Ence. Complete the list of events the Gala do Remo Galego will take place in Marín.

The Abanca Week continues to grow, with a philosophy that they are a series of sailing, rowing and pyragüism competitions, and in which friendship prevails between the lovers of the sea and their sports of Galicia, Asturias and northern Portugal. Next Saturday in the waters of the river of Vigo, at the Club Marítimo de Canido begins an Abanca Week, to which has been granted for 2018 the European Championship of Laser Master in which will participate 200 ships from a 20 of countries, so this edition before such an event in the next season is more important than ever.
