According to ANEN the market for recreational boats grows 9.7 points until August

As of August 2017, 4,492 recreational boats have been registered in Spain, 9.7% more than in the same period last year in which 4,095 enrolments were registered. The nautical charter continues to grow even more moderately than in the two preceding seasons, until August of this year the registration of recreational boats for rental use increase by 23.5% over the same period of 2016.

They grow all the length. The ships up to 8 meters grow by 7.2%, enrolling 3,962 ships, compared to 3,695 registered in the same period of 2016. It remains the most demanded segment of ships in Spain (88.2% of the nautical market).

The length between 8 and 12 meters is 25.7%, with 323 enrolments compared to 257 last year. The ships between 12 and 16 meters grow by 38.1%, with 145 enrollments over 105 registered in the same period of 2016. The ships over 16 meters are the ones that increase their enrolment (63.2%) with 62 units registered compared to 38 registered between January and August 2016.

By type of boat, the motor ships have the best result until August of this year, with an increase in registration of 12.3%, with 2,022 new records compared to 1,800 last year (until August), and with the highest market share (45%).

It is followed by the water bikes that grow by 10.9%, enrolling 1,044 units over the 941 of the same period last year. The folding pneumatic vessels fall slightly -2.1% and the semi-rigid vessels grow by 9.1%. The candle is still positive in the period under review, with a growth of 7.9%, enrolling 259 units compared to 240 units registered between January and August 2016.

The rental market has a 26.58% growth in the enrolment of recreational boats. From January to August 2017, 1,419 recreational boats were registered for rent, compared with 1,149 in the same period last year.

The length up to 8 meters is also the most demanding in the rental market (84.6%) and they experience a growth of 19.5%. The rent of ships over 12 meters in length is the most growing, growing by 90.9% on average, with 98 units registered, compared to 51 registered between January and August 2016. By type of boat, the most growing enrolments in the rental market remain those of motor boats (42%).

Catalonia with 23.75% share, occupies the first position on the national nautical market and has a growth of 17.64%, from January to August 2017. The Balearic Islands, second on the market with a share of 16.72%, has a growth of 7.9%. Andalusia is in third position per market share (16.3%) and has a decrease of -8,7% of its enrolment in the period under review. The rental market leads it in this period Catalonia with a share of 25.23%, followed by Balearic Islands representing 25.02%. The third is the Valencia Community, which accounts for 16.85% of the charter market between January and August of this year.
