The regatists of the Valencian club have produced excellent results this summer in various categories

The regatist of the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia Abdón Ibáñez closed a great month for the club, rising with the title of Class A World Champion in the Grand Master category (over 50 years old) in the World Cup held in Sopot, Poland, from 19 to 26 August. The Valencian regatist achieved an eleventh general position in a test that had the presence of 125 regatists who are among the best in the world, leaving ahead of Spanish Olympics such as Anton Paz or Gustazo Doreeste. For its part, Toni Ballester, also from RCN Valencia, remained 50 as part of the world's gold fleet.

"It was a very nice race because it was very varied. We expected the Baltic to be a very flat sea but it was very varied with changing conditions. The great theme of this world world was to know which ships could fly in a girdle and which could not. The fleet sailed quite together and announced a very graceful race. On the first day of competition I managed to do good results that already placed me at the top of the table. The second day was a wind very similar to the garby of Valencia with a lot of wave, which came very well. That was the day I got my best results, a fifth and a sixth. It was especially hard because after the morning sailing we went back to land and the fleet was divided into gold and silver and we still went back to the water to fight another sleeve. On the third day there was a lightning storm and the committee decided that we would go back to the ground. And finally on Thursday we made three sleeves with little wind. The championship has been very interesting for the variety of weather conditions, and I am very happy because I have done very good results and I have even been about to wear a sleeve. I have been the eleventh of the general, overcoming Olympic regatists such as Anton Paz or Gustavo Doreeste and the next goal is to reach the top 10 of the world."The next meeting of the Class A Regatists will be the Spanish Class A Championship, to be held in Puerto Sherry, from 7 to 10 September.
