Ricardo Terrades heads the GP42 project that will participate in the Huelva-La Gomera.

Marina Rubicón, Doñana and Hats Fernández & Roche they sponsor one of the ships participating in the ocean race Huelva - La Gomera, whose edition commemorates the "525 anniversary of the meeting between two worlds: Huelva-America." A historic race, loaded with symbolism, that returns to the calendar after 14 years of absence to emulate in its 750 miles away the first scale of Christopher Columbus on his first trip to America.

The team led by Ricardo Terrades, recent champion of the Sailing King's Cup has the main sponsorship of Marina Rubicón and the co-sponsorship of the Environmental Council of the Junta de Andalucía with the name of Doñana in addition to the company of hats Fernández & Roche. The ship recently docked in the Port of Mazagon (Huelva), a GP42, very fast prototype, built in the Italian shipyard Grand Soleil, has been optimized for bearing winds, will compete under the gallarte of Real Club Marítimo and Tennis de Punta Umbria.

A Canarian - Andalusian project

The 8 professional regatists of the Marina Rubicón - Doñana - Fernández & Roche team come from the Canary Islands and Andalusia, are currently focused on the highest level of sports:

- Luis M. Doreeste (Olympic regatist, world champion and Europe in different classes and winner of the King's Cup on 3 occasions),

-Aleix Gelabert (oceanic navigator who managed to finish in 4th position in the last edition of the Barcelona World Race and winner of 2 Copas del Rey

-Hector González (World of the J80 class),

-Nacho Murube (Last King's Cup Champion in ORC1, Corinthian category),

-Álvaro Fernández Candau (IMS 670 World Champion),

-Ignacio Diez de la Cortina (2-time King of Sailing Cup winner and World Champion IMS 670)

-Manuel Martín Ovando (cruise class multi-purpose regatist)

-Ricardo Terrades: owner of the project (three-time King's Cup champion and J80's world and Europe subchampion, among other wins).

As team best man is Arturo Montes Vorcy, Paralympic regatist representing Spain in the last JJ.OO. of Rio 2016.

Among the rivals to beat are two VOR70 (former participants of the Volvo Ocean Race), the Audax (TP52) and the Macaronesia - Adrián Hoteles (Sydney 43). The Marina Rubicón - Doñana - Fernández & Roche is the ship with the lowest length among its direct competitors, however, the team of Terrades hopes to be able to develop a good speed and to plant them face in the time compensated.

The departure of the race will be next Saturday, September 2 from Palos de La Frontera (Huelva).
