Magnificent the meteor conditions of the day held on Saturday the participants in the tenth edition of the Regata das Illas Atlánticas for classic and time ships that is organizing the Club Náutico San Vicente do Mar with the sponsorship of Liberty Seguridad, El Corte Inglés and Leyma Natura. The 6 meters international did not participate in this opening day.

The meteor was completely allied with the Regata in the first test

At one o'clock in the afternoon the participants were given the exit with a north wind that it carried with an intensity of 14-16 knots average. Sun and sea practically flat encouraged the Committee to put a tour outside of the Ons and Onza, leaving them to port in the direction of the stern and returning by the beacon of Picamillo to the port of Pedras Negras in demanding girth passing to the majestic beach of A Lanzada, with a total of 14.1 miles.

A spectacular exit in the stern where the little Blue Moon was highlighted, followed by the Papaleison, Penguin and by the committee area the Miñaminiña. However, the stylized Penguin took a march immediately and there was no longer anyone to take away his victory in real time. In class-compensated time, the podium was left behind this first day as follows:

1) Penguin One (German Frers - Carlos Romero - CM Canido)
2) Miñaminiña (Tayana 37 - Fabián Garrido - Agabace) at 17: 38

18 / 08 / 2017: Suspension of the first day of the Regata das Illas Atlánticas de Classicos in San Vicente do Mar for the 6 meters

"The shipowners of the international class 6 meters, including Don Juan Carlos I, have decided to suspend their participation in the Regata das Illas Atlánticas this weekend in the Pontevedresa town of San Vicente do Mar, in O Grove, in sign of mourning for the brutal attack in Barcelona. The whole fleet also wants to express its solidarity and full support for the victims and their families in these difficult times."

So far the official communiqué of the organizers of this Event. We obviously respect the decision deeply, even if we do not share it. In Spain this weekend, there are going to be or are going to be trials from rowing, to pyragüism, football, etc., and that we know no one has made this very clear decision... that is, in almost all events, or the event of the event has been cancelled, in case of awards, or has been kept an excited and respectful minute of silence... the practice of sport is certainly one of the most qualified responses to barbarism, and it is not a solution to paralyze sports programming, to proclaim our sadness and our indignation...

The race this year will again consist of two days of race (Saturday a long coastal stage and Sunday a coastal also, but shorter), with another day prior to Friday 18 that will be dedicated to the reception, registration and measurement of the participating ships, as well as the observation by the jury specialized in giving them special prizes to the ships best preserved or in more traditional spirit.

The races will again be classified under the Hándicap JCH system, providing the Galega Association of Classical and Epoch Boats (Agabace) with technical advice for this and helping in the correct measurement and verification of certificates of the participating ships. Class 6 MFI in addition to JCH, among them only, will also qualify in real time
