The award-giving dinner of the last edition of the Rías Baixas Regata also had other actors outside this competition. As the Board of Directors of the Royal Nautical Club had announced a few days ago, through its president, the athletes of the Vela section of the club who participated in the Vaien World Championship, held in late July in Poland, received a tribute and a plaque commemorating their success in the international test.
The Vaien Championship, which was first held in Poland, produced great results for the Viguese athletes of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, who were made with the absolute world title (Pablo Cabello and Javier Lago); while Paula González and Andrea González were made with the world subchampionship in the female category.
For their part, Martín Wizner and Pedro Ameneiro were also honored for their Silver Medal in the 420 European Championship, in the sub-17 category, in Athens, and bronze in the recently held Junior Championship in Italy. Both young people were unable to attend the celebration as they were on a journey so it was their brothers who collected the commemorative plates.
