The Catalan regatist Alejandro Muscat has today proclaimed himself the Spanish champion of the Finn class in the championship held at the Real Club Náutico de Motril, Granada. The competition, which began last Friday, August 11, ended today, Monday, 14, with a blank day for lack of wind.
Muscat, a regatist of Club Nàutic Garraf, led the competition at all times and managed to cross the finish line in first position in the five trials held along the championship. "I've been very comfortable in the water, there's been a lot of wind these days and I'm happy with how I've sailed," said Finn's new Spanish champion. In general, six of the top ten classified have been junior regatists. "The level is growing and there are many young people who come with strength," Muscat has recognized.
The second ranked, and champion of young Spain, has been the Menorcan regatist Joan Cardona, who has recently changed the Laser Standard class to the Finn. Cardona has added three seconds, a fifth and a ninth. With these results, the regatist of the Royal Nautical Club of Palma is presented as one of the best-looking young people in this Olympic class. The absolute podium has been completed by the Coruñés Miguel Fernández. The winner in the Master category has been the Andalusian Alvaro Ballesteros, ninth ranked in the general.
